This certainly worth note, East Penn’s Trackage was indeed in need of repair. Speaking of I actually have footage of another derailment in the month of May I’m working on editing features the same issue in what started as a chase to the Wilsmere turn crew only made it a few miles before rolling some wheels on a curve.
Hey Mike, this is Jackson and I agree with you. Come on guys come on CSX why you do this to the cruise my favourite train is the notebook sell that’s the best train ever in the states because I have an elevator film who works for the NS
Remember reading about MILW. ROAD, that had a similar thing that would happen to them, at the bridge where they crossed the Columbia River in Eastern Washington State.
Mother Nature can certainly be vicious. Just glad the whole thing didn’t end up in the drink. I’ll have to read up on the Columbia River story. Sounds interesting!
Nice video bud! I remember that storm and those couple derailments, it’s hard to grasp a couple of freight cars falling like a bridge off that, lol. Very well covered and good job!
Dude thank you so much for the kind words! Yea that storm had some power too it for sure.. it made the signals in my yard sway back and forth for most of the night. I can’t imagine what that crew on 409 must’ve thought headed for that bridge.
I have been over that I-95 bridge in a Tractor trailer before and let me tell you it can be a rough ride when the winds are blowing! Loaded is not bad but empty in an open top is tough!
My father has been in the trucking industry for 20 years and I’ve heard a lot of stories on the I-95 bridge.. especially like you said running empty I’ve seen a few blow over on the high way cams there too. Certainly a wild ride.
While I’m not sure how they got those two off of there I do remember that they barged the tank car and remaining submerged centerflows away to presumably scrap those moves happened over the next two weeks during the week.
A great catch so to speak, I know it's a bummer for the train company's but I could watch these re-railer's all day long! They are a well oiled machine! and It's fascinating to watch them!
Great video! Trains are top heavy. Straight Line Winds are very powerful! Train is up on a berm, which adds to the impact of the wind! Terra & Cranemasters get the job done!
@ferg1680 Oh, so right you are. I have seen good stuff destroyed by leadership using horsepower even after sharing thoughts pointing out a disaster if you continue on this path. Laughing my butt off didn't help, I'd turn a wreck into an academy award performance.
The regular wind was gusting at 50+mph -- you don't need to come up with more exciting explanations than that. If there was a tornado, people would have reported it.
Wenn ich den katastrophalen Unterbau sehe , da liegt das Geleis ja zum Teil nur auf dem Schotter. Bei den Achslasten dort , kein Wunder das Geleis rutscht weg.
Okay this makes no sense whatsoever, where is a couple of cars were blown over by the wind, the trees still made a windscreen enough that kept it from being a lot worse not to mention the fact that the trains came to arrest because of the trees but will chop the trees down to get into the cars when they were gaping holes they could have gotten to them around the trees so the next wind gusts through their there won't be a natural windbreak and even more cars will get blown over and derailed, real intelligent there guys not!
While in this video the males take charge I can assure you there are plenty of women out there doing this too, Women play just a big a role in the rail industry as the men
Track problems also, was not because of wind, I'm sure it didn't help but it was the whole issue.

be nice to see a video after this job is all done. and how they left the place.
Awesome video of recovery ops. East Penn GP 38-2's look really nice(fresh paint)...
The toughest train to haul is a train of empties.
Especially those pesky centerbeams!
Right! There isn't enough weight to resist the wind.
Agreed, especially with long drawbars. Very easy to stringline if you use and let go of your air in the wrong places

Great footage. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for tuning in!
It's hard to believe that 60 mile a hour wind flipped it over with a load on it
track issues also, was not 100% the wind.
hello RailfanMike & it's is Randy and i like yours video is cool & Thanks RailfanMike & Friends Randy
Why didn't CSX place a high wind advisory on this bridge? Because CSX only cares about moving trains, not safety.
It's called corporate greed, trains only make money when they're moving
@@robertvezse1234 However, it costs more if you have to fish them out of a river. It's not just greed, it's "penny wise and pound foolish."
Nothing stops a money machine
nice footage
Thank you!
Very interesting catches!! Thanks for posting!

Hi! New subscriber. YT put you in my mix today. Great railfanning accidents video.
Really enjoyed the video. My question...how did they handle the two cars on the bridge ?? Really would have liked to have seen that.
While I’m not sure how they got those two off of there I do remember that they barged the tank car and remaining submerged centerflows away to presumably scrap those moves happened over the next two weeks during the week.
Two different derailments in the same frame of video, you don't see that everyday. Glad everyone was ok.

With enough horsepower, just about anything can be accomplished.
Absolutely couldn't say it better myself
Don’t forget...Brain Power before Horsepower

Nice video, the Susquehanna has claimed RR cars since there were bridges over it. 'Mother Nature' very strong along that river.
Excellent video!
Makes absolute sense, knowing this problem can not be solved at the same level of thinking that created it.

Why does the locomotive have two red MU sockets? Don't they usually just have one?
Most do. But I've had quite a few of them with 2 hot sockets with a dummy at the bottom.
One socket has electrical power on it. The other socket is to plug the MU cable in it when not in use. So it won't be dangling around and get damaged
Contractor? RJ Corman or Hulcher. Thanks
This was not the April fools day news that I expected 😂
A bit of an untimely release I suppose, it was no fool though this actually happened 😅
@@RailFanMikeProductions I know. It’s crazy! Last week the wind blew one of my shed doors clean off its hinges
Why is the crew logging?
Good job on the video. More proof of don't fool with mother nature. She can sure teach us some hard lessons.
Blown off the tracks..unreal
Looks like a whole lot of men standing around inspecting
earth: the place where wind can push a 25 ton giant train.
Then there was the bridge the wind took out.
What Happened Here train derailment.
That little loader could use a 4-way bucket to carry those trees safer.
The saw guy was using a dull saw chain.
Rip GATX Airslide hopper
The person driving that end-loader Cat was pretty skillful moving and entire tree trunk! Impressive!
So no wind warning? Someones getting fired.
A train basically is a high profile vehicle. Trains can get blow over by high winds just like tractor trailers.
Maybe the train hits by a tornado 🌪? Or Hurricane forces downburst winds ? Wow 😮

CSX and Roofers have something in common. They care nothing about about the weather.
Very lucky the locomotives didn't tip too . . .
well the locos are like 200 tons each
Can i have the firewood
During the 1974 Xenia tornado, a DT&I train was blown off the tracks. Yup mother nature wins again.
the way all those guys work together, its like a choreographed ballet of precision. Such teamwork. Not a place for soy powered individuals
Having a hard time believing 50-60 mph winds did this???? Especially the locomotive
Its all about....... MONEY, MONEY, MONEY...........MONEY..........
Poor GP-40 and hoppers
CSX only cares about the almighty $$$$$
Can't say I don't agree. Although they've been better under their new leadership
Show me a company that doesn't
Lots of supervisors. Why couldn't they just move those trees out of the way then put them back? LoL.
I see many bridge piers ripe for collision.
Truss bridges need to be replaced.
Not on my land
