it has really exploded over the last few months. There's a club happening at all hours 7 days a week. If you're looking for clubs I can send you discord links. There's a ton of them
I just learned there was a rave/club/edm scene in VRChat today! Your set was really impressive! As a person who has ventured into the edm scene listening to multiple genres (I love hardstyle and bassy house but I am open to more) it really is amazing to see that VR Chat does those club events! I should go to one someday…
yo this is really sick seeing how they actually do it. I've wanted to get into DJing in VRC. It would be nice being able to play my tracks for people to hear, even virtually
@@ObsequiousV4 If you have any advice to get started, (eg. some nice vrc clubs/venues to check out, or advice on how to get started) that would be extremely helpful!

yeah before I discovered there was a rave scene in VR when I started (in 2020) I used to go there and listen to music and after a while people would show up and dance. Controlling the fog and light settings to drops was what made me decide to buy a fog machine IRL and start streaming and everything else that happened after that was pretty crazy. Cheers!
Newb question here: What’s genres or styles of music are you playing here? As someone who’s sources of music has primary been mainstream genres, I’ve been really curious about hearing and learning more. I have a passion for diving into new (to me) styles of music, the history of it, and culture of it. Any insight is greatly appreciated! 🙌🏽
Love to hear it! It's a little difficult to remember what I played during this set since it was so long ago, but scrubbing through the video at the moment and it seems to be a a variety of different genres. I hear some vocaloid dance music (such as Giga-p). There's some electro house, probably some dubstep and hardcore as well. If you have a particular time stamp you want more info about I can reply to it. In the meantime, the main genres I play are (straight from my VRChat profile:) [Vocaloid trance][JP-Trance][Neurofunk DNB][Future Core][Dubstep⁄Riddim][Psytrance & Hi-TECH][J-pop\k-pop\J-EDM][midtempo][Bass House][Hardcore][Techno][stoner⁄death metal][Complextro. I hope that helps!
@@ObsequiousV4 Yoooooo thanks a lot for taking the time respond and provide the info you did. I gotta say, some of these I’ve not heard of, most like because they’re a sub genre of a style I’m not super familiar of. There’s almost an uncomfortable feeling I have even saying that out loud, but if one doesn’t know something, they just don’t know 🤷🏽♂️. I’d say the cause of that is more so a lack of exposure, but obviously I’m trying to change that. How long have you been djing and more importantly how have you found yourself in the direction of preferring to spin these particular genres?
@@resleone6609 Don't worry about feeling that way. I think I only really knew of and listened to about 3 or 4 EDM genres before I started DJing. The hunt for new music and ways to express myself (also VERY much thanks to the other DJs in the VR Chat music community showing me their passions) with a sprinkle of japanese and korean pop music influence is responsible for the genres I know of now. I started DJing about 5 months into the pandemic. As for why I've decided to spin the genres I do, it's mostly a matter of playing what I love and casting that net in hope of finding others who also love those genres (which has been successful). I have met some amazing people through DJing in VR and it has heavily impacted my entire life and future goals. There's also a lot of music I love that isn't particularly suitable for a dance club, but works well if you find another song to drop it on top of. I listen to a lot of happy J-pop asd sometimes those songs just need a banger beat to full send it. Cheers and keep on enjoying music!
How do you deal with the input lag? Usually when I do sets in VR Chat, I route it through Voicemeetr Banana, and it gives me anywhere from 2-350 ms of input lag.
is the input lag to your controller or to the stream? When I watch my vods, there's some input lag to my scratches but it doesn't affect me live performing. I'm watching Serato on a monitor just under my HMD right now (this video is actually quite old compared to what I use right now, so I forget what my setup was during that time)
voicemeeter tends to have some latency unfortunately, the best way to avoid it is having a physical audio interface(like a focusrite) and a good CPU, otherwise you can just "learn" to work with latency
It's a pioneer DDJ SB3. It can natively run to PC audio through USB and I just stream PC audio to twitch (or CDN or topaz chat) and enter the URL into the VRChat club world. There's a how to guide on my discord server!
Install VR Chat from steam (it's a free game. you can play in desktop without VR equipment) and install OBS then either set up a virtual content network or a twitch account and stream. In game, clubs use maps which have video players added to them which can ingest the stream feed and display it to people on the dance floor. If you're just looking to stream and not do it through the VRChat community you can simply get OBS and stream on some platform like youtube or twitch/
So this is my setup when I was just using Vr to track my avatar, but now I'm entirely in VR. You just record the audio through streamlabs OBS while also recording vrchat. Some DJs just use desktop vrchat without VR as well but it's way more fun with vr

Its been a while seeing this again popped on my feed. Figured it out long ago and it's wild and also a lot easier than people think. Cool communities to get into of people who do raves in VR.
