I was working with organic compost and got sick with Legionnaires disease. One way to prevent getting this is to wear gloves!!! I always use gloves now and recommend you protect yourself as well! Many times when you are young you do not know how to appreciate something and when you are old you value it. In Mexico, in Monterrey, my mother threw the seeds of tomato, melon, watermelon, papaya, in the patio and they grew, they did not need absolutely anything, nothing at all.

I love using my spinach container. They are so reusable too. Cool about sugar cane. I was watching videos on it earlier this week. I’m intimidated by harvest.
I water mine once a day. Mine are sprouted from seed straight in the garden. The soil is a little dense but not too bad. It holds the water well and drains well. But I've only just made my second attemtp at a compost pot. Hopefully this one turns out better than the first one. Need to find some worms though. My yard only has really tiny ones.

Ok. First, your video was under 6 minutes. That's a big plus. Some other youtube videos will go on for 14 minutes to cover the same thing you did in 5 + minutes. Also you got right to the point on your key things to focus on. I live in California also and am taking my 2nd attempt to grow a garden (First time rodents and squirrels destroyed everything a few years back). All your tips were practical and attainable. I've began germinating some fresh seeds (blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, and watermelon 🍉) on a wet paper towel in a ziplock bag and planned to transplant them in the dirt later when they did germinate-- I was wondering, what you think about this technique, and if you have any suggestions regarding these plants I've started?

LED Grow lights do NOT consume a lot of electricity. You could run a light for 8 hours per day and it would only add $1-2 to your monthly bill. The old grow lights were energy wasters.
If you are not in a totally dry climate you should avoid top watering very young plants or seeds. Tends to get you more damping off disease. Bottom water only as much as possible, especially tomatoes!
Great videos! Glad I found your channel. I’m curious, I grew some ground cherries in a container with a cover. The seeds sprouted and grew quickly. Within less than a hour of removing the cover, the plants all died. What is a good way to transition the plants to avoid this? Thank you.
Hi it also happened to me so if you are using clear plastic bag when the seed start to sprout every day remove the shopper from the plant for 10 min or if you are using clear dome do the same or wait till true leaves come out then remove the clear dome
My spinach seedlings are eaten away by root maggots andthey all died . I have also sown some other seeds. Do you have quick solutions that can kill root maggots so that I can save my seedlings?
I live in HOT and dry Southern California and growing celery, lettuce and carrots has been hard. Carrots always get leggy and I fight to try and put more soil on them while they’re planted in a bucket and then also testing out in one of my built raised beds. I would love to try the container for humidity but if I try that, do I keep it in the shade or sun? Also when it grows in it and the lid of course is not as tall as the lettuce 🥬or so would grow, do I open it and leave it?
