I preferred it a few decades back before they fixed up the streets and sidewalks, and added flashy lights and new facades. Turned it antiseptic. That was the REAL Zona Norte. Dirty and gritty. A place for locals only. Before the Internet outed the neighborhood and turned it into an overpriced tourist attraction.

It sucks now that SG are asking 800 pesos for one position with clothes on now. The prices have gotten out of hand. I don't even go to HK no more since all of the girls are charging crazy amounts. If you're still shopping in the alley, then you can expect ridiculous tourist prices. The princesses there know that there's plenty naive gringos passing through who have no concept of what the prices really are. So they overcharge big-time. Head to Calle Primera or even Ninos los Heroes. Not hard to find putas under 400 pesos. Even 250 pesos can be had if you habla español and aren't shy about negotiating.
