  • 🌟 IMPORTANT: This is a balanced diet. It is important to ensure that dietary choices are balanced in order to maintain proper nutrition. Making substitutions without careful consideration could lead to an unbalanced diet.
    Ingredients:
    - 9 ounces chicken legs with skin and bones
    - 6 ounces chicken heart
    - 4 whole eggs
    - 5 ounces pork muscle meat (95% lean)
    - 4 ounces chicken liver
    - 3 ounces mussels
    - 2 ounces butternut squash
    - 3 teaspoons flaxseed
    - 2 teaspoons ground turmeric
    Instructions:
    • Recipe should be served raw due to ground bone. If you can FINELY grind chicken leg bones at home, this recipe can be gently cooked. If not, replace bone content with another source of minerals.
    • Remember to practice safe food handling techniques when dealing with raw meat, including washing hands and surfaces before and after handling.
    • All nuts, seeds, grains, tablet-based supplements, and produce used in this recipe should be finely chopped for better digestibility, bioavailability, and distribution. (A food processor works great!)
    • Open any capsule/perle ingredients for better distribution.
    • Mix fine-powder supplements and oils thoroughly into recipe.
    • Add sh oils or other sources of omega 3 fatty acids at the time of feeding.
    • Pre-portion and freeze any extra food you don't plan to feed within 72 hours. Serve within 3 months after freezing.
    • Best served "body temperature." An adult cat should eat 4-6 ounces of this per day, but adjust up or down based on your cat's activity and health requirements.

I get frozen New Zealand green lipped mussels at the Asian supermarket when it’s on sale 😉. Or online at Raw Feeding Miami.

    Judy!
Can you grind this without bone for KD cats and make a cat loaf in the oven????
Is that better than slow cooked ( slow cooked there will be more histamine!??) That is not so god for cats with allergies!
    Love to hear a comment❤❤

Is it safe to feed raw pork? What about trichinosis?

If I don't have a grinder and purchase ground boneless meat, how do I modify this recipe to include the needed calcium? Do I include all four eggshells or just one eggshell? Thank you for this recipe.

Hello - HELP! I have 4 cats that exhibited allergic reactions to something: food, environment, etc that manifested as red scabs on noses, itching, paw licking etc. I had them tested with an intolerance test and sure enough they were allergic to items I suspected: fish, fish oil, corn, carrageenan, flea meds, chicory root, and to my shock SYNTHETIC VITAMINS including taurine, and some probiotics. I have been feeding them a corn, soy ,wheat free diet with very expensive foods: Wellness and a limited ingredient food I have to get from British Columbia. Yet they still broke out and are itching. I feed them raw chicken as a supplement which they love but was vey surprised they tested very intolerant for chicken liver, chicken hearts, yet "chicken" was fine. They are ok with Turkey as well. No fish, fish meals, or "meals" etc.
I now need to make homemade cat food but am very concerned about getting the right ratios and vitamin, mineral content. Eggs are also a no no. I need "natural vitamins and minerals" to add to the ground meat. I have 7 cats total that I will change them all to 100% raw and get them off the commercial food. Where can I find a "natural vitamin / mineral" cat supplement or which natural products can I use as an alternative. I see certain vitamins and minerals on your website but they don't say if they are natural or synthetic. Also, I see you did not add salt to this diet. I have read many different opinions that cats need salt added to diet while others argue they don't.
    Many thanks!

Is this considered complete? I thought cats needed taurine and other minerals.

This is a balanced diet. It is important to ensure that dietary choices are balanced in order to maintain proper nutrition. Making substitutions without careful consideration could lead to an unbalanced diet. Foods that contain the most taurine: is found in fish, meat, and milk. It is completely absent in cereal grains. Heart muscle contains the most taurine. The vast majority of dry pet foods contain little or no real meat, but instead use cheaper substitutes like grain proteins (corn gluten, wheat gluten, pea protein, soy protein), and by-product meals. Many pet food companies now add taurine to their products, however there are no stated requirements for supplementing dog food with taurine. Cat food almost always includes supplemental taurine.

Is it ground flax seed or whole flax seed? For myself I always have ground on hand but I'm sure the measurements would be different if you're using whole flax seed.

I have two 14 yr old cats. They are on a urinary kibble food. Are they too old to switch over? I just adopted a cat that’s abt 15 months old. Would this be ok for her as well?

    • @DrJudyMorgan
      @DrJudyMorgan  5 месяцев назад +4

It is never too late to switch over. Just keep in mind, they should transition over slowly as to not overwhelm their digestive system. Start with 80% kibble and 20% raw. For dogs it typically takes 8 to 10 days to fully transition over. Cats can be way more addicted to kibble and most of the time take longer to switch. It is okay to switch the 15 month old over as well.
