  • Craig Trnka demonstrates how to forge a cap toe, an extended heel and a trailer with a caulkin. We get a lot of requests for how to videos, so Craig covers all three aspects on one shoe in this video where we think you will have at least a few “aha” moments.

Just amazing to watch. Craig, you make it look easier than putting butter on bread (I know it isn't) which to me is a mark of a true craftsman. As always, just a pleasure to watch your craft.

I can't call myself a blacksmith, but I'm a novice who is as keen as to belt the shit out of an anvil on weekends. Thanks for your content, I can't tell you how much I've learnt from you and I fully appreciate your channel. Cheers!

Beautiful work. If I tried that toe cap the sliver would have split off long before cracking the toe.☺

Craig do you think you can do a video for us aspiring smiths. Like a beginner video where you show us something simple? Like how to forge a piece of twisted metal with no definite shape of form? You know something I can do.

Hey Craig, what anvil is that? That little nub of a shelf looks handy

It’s a prototype of an Austin Eden anvil. They should be out pretty soon.

I have a question, is an angle grinder an appropriate replacement as far as acceptable standards are concerned? To compensate for inaccurate hammering? And I probably shouldn't say "inaccurate hammering" but more like my personal unorthodox style of hammering, where I hit everything except, what I was aiming for. This technique seems to work for me if done correctly, in a combination with an angle grinder.

It's all about producing product. The more you do the less you will have to use an angle grinder to achieve your product. It's all good to do what you need to do.
