  • * The Wiouwash State Trail is a rail trail in northeastern Wisconsin, named after the four counties it traverses: Winnebago, Outagamie, Waupaca, and Shawano1. This former rail corridor has been converted into a recreational trail, offering scenic views of diverse landscapes, including grassland prairies, wooded areas, and farmland. Here are some key details about the trail:
    Trail Sections:
The northern segment in Shawano County spans 19 miles between Birnamwood and Split Rock.
The southern segment is open for 22 miles, running from Hortonville to Oshkosh.
These two sections are separated by a gap of approximately 30 miles.
    Activities:
During the summer, visitors enjoy walking, hiking, biking, and even horseback riding on the relatively smooth and flat trail.
In winter, the trail is used for snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing.
    Trail Pass:
A state trail pass is not required for this trail.
