Menopause started for me at 45, the month of my oldest daughter's wedding, lol. I also got my first pair of bifocals on my 40th birthday. But don't fret! It gets much much better, I'm 69 now. Finished memo by 50! I love my age now, no more worries, eat healthy, exercise, have fun & quite worrying about what I can't change. Life gets better & more fun as you age.

Only to validate your feelings, there was a study released today that said instead of what we thought was gradual aging, we actually have two bursts of aging one around the age of 44 and the other around the age of 60. I am now 66 and looking back think this totally was my experience. I think you’re always beautiful and really enjoy watching your content.❤

I remember vividly feeling the same Gemma. Unfortunately for me it got worst. The psychological symptoms were horrendous and I don’t think I would be here now without HRT. I’m never giving it up and have made peace with the weight gain, which started to happen anyway before HRT. I now love my body for what it does rather than what it looks like and am so much happier. I hope you find your way through, sending healing hugs ❤

I started peri at 32 yo didn't know that's what it was. Had hysterectomy at 45 gained a huge amount of Weight. Went on estrodot patch at 51. It's horrific to be honest all I can say is had my doc not given me hrt I'd be in a wooden box now. My hrt has been tweaked a few times progesterone in d form of utrogestan was added a year ago best thing ever for mood and sleep. Also weight loss and the mitigation of estrogen weight gain which is caused by estrogen dominance. Once my hormones was balanced I started to lose a bit of weight. After 6 months at 280 pounds I had a gastric bypass and lost 150 pounds within 10 months I've kept it off since. HRT when balanced is weight reducing. I hope all works out for uou and that you feel better soon ❤ sending you a virtual hug

I'm sorry it took me so much to answer, I've been catching up with your videos...
When I was 47 (I am now 52), the exact same thing occured to me: at once I looked ten years older, I felt ten years older and I had to wear glasses to look at my phone.
I keep telling it to my family and friends, but only a few seem to have experienced this "flash aging".
The bad news is it's never going away, the years added really came to stay (through our eyes); but the good news is that nobody seems to notice those years but us - or at least they appear to notice them gradually rather than all at once, so they don't get any impressed.
You make us happier with your videos, so I hope you get better soon, and be sure you are (and you look like) the same beautiful Gemma!❤

I’m now 53 and a fitness pro. Have been going through a rough menopause. Extreme fatigue, nausea, body aches, weight gain, hot flashes. I wanted to jump off a cliff! Started hormone replacement therapy and it’s made a big difference. My best advice is to do bloodwork and check your hormone levels. Also, the only thing that beats the weight gain and change of body composition is weight training and proper nutrition. Feel better!!

Fortunately I haven't had problems, my lifestyle is totally different not sure if that's the reason but I eat whole food, I walk at least 6 miles a day overall no alcohol, no cigarettes, no spare tyre no weight issues I sleep really well and no sweats? And the emotional roller-coaster of the menopause can be horrific. I found with HRT that I bloat when I am on my progesterone days, so for 2 weeks in 4 I feel pregnant!!! Not sure how to cope with the weight gain but maybe ask your menopause nurse/doctor for advice, I am sure there are ways to counter it - for me the HRT gains of feeling emotionally stable and 'normal' (whatever that is !!) far outweighs the feelings of dread, anxiousness and continual sadness (never mind being a total sweaty mess at night - that's a whole other ball-game!!) 🤣💦😰Hope you had a great night x

I take estradiol only tablets, because i had a hysterectomy when i was 41. Maybe if you were feeling a lot better on the HRT it was just the weight gained that made you stop taking it talk to your doctor about trying a different one sometimes it takes a few tries of different ones to get the right one. I feel your pain! Everything changed when i hit 40. I'm 47 now and the worst things for me has been the insomnia, brain fog, memory issues, severe anxiety. I have been so close to quitting my job on many occasions as everyday is a nightmare. My doc won't put me on hrt due to family history. 😢

Change a doctor. If it is because of breast cancer, then it is bonkers. There was one, badly done study that made doctors afraid to prescribe it. Thankfully it is changing. HRT has so many long term pros that no one should be denied it. They now give it women who had a cancer! I am afraid that your doctor is stuck in the dark ages.

❤ Hello from Belgium. Yes, I'd always been considered very young-looking for my age but there was a moment that I definitely did age very quickly in my mid to late 40s but nothing really that noticeable.
At 45 I gave birth to my 2nd daughter (had my 1st at 26).
Evangéline was a huge surprise baby - total blessing.
I think she's the reason why I only really started into perimenopause last year at 54.
I'm 55 now and had my last period after my birthday in February....
For a year now, I've been having frequent hot flashes but, unlike my older sister, no sweating.

There's a new article in The Guardian that says ageing happens in spurts. I've had symptoms of "old" all my life, so it hasn't been that much of a shock. I've always had poor eyesight, so graduating to varifocals was fine. I've had arthritis since my early 20s, so that's just continuing. I have put on weight, though, and I can't get rid of it. The menopause nearly killed me, since I developed chronic insomnia. But, hey, I'm still here too. It's been fun getting used to my skin, which has never been this good before. I was put on vit A as a teenager, because I had acne, and I really think a lifetime of versions of vit A is really beneficial. I don't use the strongest versions of it unless I really need it, because you have to be gentle with actives.

Because of my kind if breast cancer, I was not a candidate for HRT. My doctor suggested Vitex, or chase tree berry extract, and it was a game changer. Been on it for years, and at 60, still no hormonal swings or physical unpleasantness. Lol

You NEEEEED to try the tarte creaseless undereye powder. It is without doubt the best and most flattering undereye powder. Absolutely worth getting in from the USA website. Shipping is very reasonable. I think it is free over £30 purchase. I have the pink and lavender shades. I like the lavender best

There was a recent study that says aging is not done slowly and over time, but in bursts which have been recorded at age 44 and again at 60!! Sounds like you might be experiencing that. I definitely remember waking up one day in my mid-40s and thinking "what happened?!?!"

I turned 36 this month and last year I had the same issue with looking in the mirror and like.. oh I’m not a young adult anymore. Affected not only the way I see myself physically, but it was a mess in all the sides. I think we all go through this in different ages

  • @mariabarradas4235

Yes it happens, you go to bed fine and wake up and almost scream to the mirror, some days things just do not work, you are young, a lot younger than me so I can tell you, things do get better, your hair looks nice as usual, make up is flawless and so fresh looking, hang in there, pet your pup, kiss your kids ( even if they don't wan't to, lol ) and hope your evening was a great one, here in Toronto is 5pm so your evening must be almost finish by now but tomorrow is another day, feel better, great that you found a natural way and not HRT, it works but it's not very good for us, natural products are so much better.

It’s all natural and from a company in Scotland that specialises in herbal remedies. Hope your better soon and you’ve not aged over night your still as beautiful and look just the same. ❤

I think everyone should be on HRT. It keep you young and keeps your bones strong. I look awful with gray hair. Your hair color was so flattering before. I think there is an overnight change that happens about 45. I loved how I looked at 42.

I read an article in the Guardian last weeks, saying people went through two major ageing spurts - where everything suddenly seems to hit at once, first at 44, with wrinkles, weight gain, metabolism changes, aches and pains etc, and another at 60 when risk of alzheimers and heart disease shoot up. They initially thought that the one at 44 yrs was down to menopause, but it happened to men too
