❤ Watched OLTL since 1984 to series end. I loved the lost city of Eterna. It was to me one of the best stories. Just like the Heaven trip and the Old West storylines. I will always love Llanview Pennsylvania. Retro daytime drama from coastal Mississippi 😄😎🐻🤠👋❤️
This story was well structured, well written and played out. The sets, the twist and turns OMG! I couldn’t wait to get home from school every day to see it unfold.
OLTL had underground cities, trips to heaven, and time travel while GH had machines that could freeze the world and aliens. The 80s were a wild time for soaps.
I love that storyline I used to cut school just to watch every episode I was hooked into it to me. It was different, unique storyline than any other soap operas out there. Thanks for posting it you brought back good memories.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for your great videos. I watched OLTL from the mid 80s when i was around 12 or 13 and have been a fan since. You have great insight on so much of OLTL!
I feel… now, I was a kid when Eterna premiered, but it was akin to what kids back in the day felt about Dark Shadows, not as phenomenal, but people never forgot it - and One Life was in the top three of twelve daytime dramas, and mind you the “Eterna” storyline was created when Paul Rauch, the Executive Producer was bored! Was it the best? I will say this… it still kept legacy characters in play, while introducing new ones, unlike later regimes that would keep the Buchanans but scrap other veterans… the only issue, they kind of rewrote backstory and sabotaged character, mainly Larry Wolek, and Joe Riley being Viki’s first husband. Otherwise it was fine.
But the Buchanans were very popular. They had nothing to do with other characters being scrapped. Some were scrapped before the Buchanans and others were scrapped in the 90s or 2000s.
Hey, I am confused. I watched this story back then, but why is Virgil the Angel/Gilbert telling Viki about false memories at around 8:22? He was in the Heaven storyline and the aftermath but seems to be playing yet another character here. I find that a little odd
Was it the worst storyline ever'? Absolutely not. Was it the best ever? No on that also. What it was though was something that entertained...made us think outside of the normal "soap" box. I would have LOVED Ron and Frank to have brought back Eterna in the shows later years. Would have been a little more interesting to me that Irene Manning rising from the dead as a rogue shadow government agent!
It was all so ridiculous . But, well performed. This is a show that went to Heaven & the Old West in years prior. This defied possibility EVER. Was it fun YES . Was it believable NEVER. By this time Rauch was starting to loose that 85-88 pizazz. 1989 was all over the place & 1990 as well. S. Micheal Schnessel was talented yes. Very DOOL 1996. This was Lanview with stage coaches & space ships. Over the top Llanview. They Megan gave a fantastic backstory . This story ignored😢 probability but Megan Gordon was fantastic ! Congrats actors for making this happen!
I totally loved it. To my knowledge, no other soap has ever done anything like it.

The story was silly and highly campy, but I love this storyline because of that.
Eterna was an awesome storyline. Loved every minute of it.
Eterna is a daytime classic. I loved everything about it. So exciting and fun. I even liked the ridiculous suits.😊

@@AndreaEvansTribute definitely. I think i can pull that look off.🤣
@GanymedeBoy 😂
It was definitely "over-hated." Eterna was fun and memorable.

Yes. I loved the storyline. It was very unique and original.
I loved Eterna from the beginning to the end. Yes, it was silly, but it was also fun.
I was glued to each episode, and loved Megan.
