He's about as tall as Aventurine (who probably didn't have a very good diet growing up all things considered). I like to imagine that it's because he didn't eat well as a child due to stress, which is why his wings / hair color look so sickly compared to Robin.

Also he was taking lessons from the family at a very young age and soon passed the title to him as head of the family. (though despite being a young man... he's actually capable and has enough knowledge from the studies he took to be in that position... And also the usual noble upbringing) so....
