  • Back in 2019 we headed to the English Electric Motor Company in the south of Norfolk to take a look around some of the awesome vehicles they have on offer. They were kind enough to lend us an awesome little Super Soco TC Max Electric motorcycle for the day to see what we thought of it! Check out Alex's first impressions review now!

    I've just ordered a tc max , orange/ black ... its truly a beautiful bike , very pleasing to the eye .... for cities and towns I guess this is where it will sit perfectly ... commute orientated with panache...

    SOOOOO close to what I need. Have to have 110kph max to commuter into town on the highway. Range is fine for a simple commute into town and back.

    It's pretty helpful having those speed presets to limit your speed, helpful for beginners and those worried about breaking speed limits. It's probably more efficient to do this too for more range.

      Watched another video of a guy doing a 0 to 60 mph test for his TC Max at the fastest setting. Took a painful 30s but then not surprising as that is as fast as this bike can possibly go. More interesting is the 0 to 40 mph time. TC Max took 7s. In comparison to other videos, a 100cc bike took 11s, a Yamaha TW 200cc took 8s, and a Vespa GTS 300cc took 5s. So it does respectable for its size, but the acceleration doesn't seem all that exciting. However, your impression suggests that the acceleration was quite enjoyable. I'm more interested in acceleration over top speed, so would like your own thoughts of how it matches up against the many other bikes that you have tested.

      Thank you! It is, although you can just about get away with it on a 125cc equivalent, and why I see it as a great town/city bike.

    • @wolfe1970
      @wolfe1970 3 года назад

      The main reason for this bike is the ability to remove the battery for charging, and to do that it means it needs to be under 25kg by law, this is 21kg, so thats why the range is what it is,
      The thing with E-bikes is you buy one to fit your purpose, not just by the style you like and they all do the same distance etc,
      People need to change their mindsets on how to approach E-bikes, they are alot more costumed to what your after than ICE bikes

    • @lehelzelenka207
      @lehelzelenka207 2 года назад

      @@wolfe1970 A lot more limited is what you want to say. One is certain. You won't have back pain on an electric bike because the battery dies on you in less than two hours! So there are some positives, right!?

      True...
      I bought mine in December, and i literally used it for 2 weeks about 80 km, the famous error 94 appeared, i was told that is related to the battery power conector, long story short the motorcycle is still in the dealers workshop I hope they deliver it to me this weekend so it can be the end of this bad experience, unlucky for me the distributor says that I am the only one who has had issues with the motorcycle since they arrived in my country ... al least the warranty will stay valid for a year...

    • @lehelzelenka207
      @lehelzelenka207 2 года назад

      Yeah. Battery cooling is apparently non existent. There are stories of melted battery trays and the inability to charge the battery as it gets so hot, it can't be charged. One youtuber said he needed to change brake rotors along with pads. Range was only 30 miles. It's not going to last 5 years as some have said.

    sounds good but i'd be worried about getting shafted by the service costs as i bet they say you need specialist kit and tell you its a safety hazard to touch the electrics , also is there not some kind of an energy recover system to extend the battery charge intervals like the bmw i3 where it charges itself a bit when you back off the throttle

    They are good bikes for learners and i have seriously been tempted however and it is a huge however, UK sellers are utterly taking the piss with the price as you can quite literally buy this exact same bike delivered to the UK from china for £1500 then factoring in registration costs lets say a max total cost of £1900 factoring in other costs like registration / import VAT etc, yet sellers are selling them for £4200 after apparently applying the Grant deduction, so yeah these bikes look good until you relies sellers are quite literally taking the piss and ripping you off, ok a seller needs to make profit fine but quadrupling the price? which brings me to the grant deduction that is supposed to make them cheaper and as an incentive but UK sellers artificially increase the base cost of the bike by the grant deduction amount so they can personally bank that money.

    Hopefully going to get to test one next month. Wondering if there is the facility to add a topbox as that seems to me to be an important requirement for a commuter bike? I certainly need one. They are advertised as having a top speed of 95kph but none of the reviews I have seen get it to go much over 80.

    There's no difference between modes 1, 2, 3 other than the top speed, the power delivery is the same through all modes, also, the difference modes are meant as limiters, mode 1 you can max out at 30mph, exactly what its meant to do, so not sure why your saying its not meant for that

  • @rage8kage

    For the price. They should have gone with two battery 100mile range. Speed around 68mph is ok but 75 would be better, I know it's possible. Right now all three bikes in their lineup are just city runabouts. And who pays more than 3grand for a town bike?

    i can understand peoples range anxiety however just think about how many miles you actually ride in a day commuting 60 mies is a lot, even 40 miles is a lot, yes this bike isnt a tourer or a sunday blast ride and the fact u can take the battery out of the bike and charge it at work from a plug for next to no cost ...food for thought i think.

    • @BikeMatters
      @BikeMatters  3 года назад

      Yes we agree, a lot of people looking at the range on electric bikes comparable to a 125 and think it isn't good enough, but how many 125s are doing more than 60-mile trips in a day.

    Seriously tho, who wants to ride at moped speeds! 🤨 Real world it's going to spend most if not all of the time in mode 3 which 40 miles with a 8 hour charge is possibley the deal breaker, only as an urban commute

    • @BikeMatters
      @BikeMatters  4 года назад +3

      Most of these small capacity bikes (capable of around 45mph or less) are just for busy urban areas really, where they are not needed to go fast.
      The new TC Max apparently can reach just under 60mph, so it is getting better!
