Mitch, without a doubt, the best How To DIY video I have ever seen in my life. Your style is awesome, instead of wasting precious minutes in blah, blah, like some other people. The graphics are great and self-explanatory. I will be working on my scooter to regulate the idle, because it is embarrassing when I come to a stop and the rpms are just too loud and fast.
thanks again. Keep doing it because I am going to learn all of your steps for the rest of the scooter. I also have a BMW C600, do you know how to work on that one?

Thanks Mitch, the yamaha manual cant come close to your great tutorial on how to get to this carby! I wanted to leave a tip for folks trying to PRIME the carb to get it to start easy after reasembly. With everything apart the auto cock petcock by the fuel tank has a hose coming out of the top - if you follow this it connects to the engine side manifold of the carb with a hose. Remove the hose from the side towards the engine and put a little vaccum on it - fuel should flow freely to the carb and fill the bowl. Cheers.

The tiny hose with the s tubing! I have owned my scooter for over 4 years and it wasn’t until now that realized I was routing it all wrong. I had my doubts every time I laid in between the air box and the cvt housing. Thanks, Mitch.

This is my next step. 2004 Vino 125, been sitting for well over a decade (has only about 500 miles on it, not even really broken in) and the gas tank is pretty crusty. I soaked some B12 in it, and tossed in some random nuts and washers for a good shake, and found that the tank itself is perfectly intact. Not rust, just old crusty varnish. It's still soakin', and I got it to start with some carb cleaner... for just a second... New fuel line, a carb clean, and the hard part will probably be getting the tank clean enough. I'll be running an inline filter as a precautionary measure.

@@MitchsScooterStuff I wanted to put a pic in here of me holding the carb, but I don't know how. I got it out and cleaned it just like you did ,and now I'm waiting on my new gasket. Just have to get it all back together after that. Checked my auto petcock after learning about it online. It works well. I was afraid it might be gunked up after sitting, like the carb was. You should do a video about the petcock, I had trouble finding anything good. Thanks again.

To clean the holes in that pin. I used fishing line, stiff flossers and couldn’t get it through the center hole. So I used 26 gauge wire. It still took some doing… but eventually cleared it.

Just leaving my thanks here as this video helped me get one of these scooters back on the road today. Does anyone know why the “S” hose would drip gas when routed this way? When I took the thing apart, the hose was laying horizontally from the left to the right side of the scooter, not sure if that would make a difference. Thanks!

Great video but one crucial point needs to be added. Those are NOT #2 Phillips screws. They are JIS screws. You run a very serious risk of stripping screw heads on Japanese motorcycles if you use Phillips driver, rather than the correct JIS driver.

Mitch, I don't know if you answer specific questions, but thought I'd try. I'm brand new to scooters, but have worked on my motorcycles for a few years. I got a 2007 w/ only 1,600 miles, but the gas tank and carb had water sitting in them for a couple years. Engine was dry, though and oil was good. Got it cleaned up and running but . . . first, it starts and idles smooth and initially accelerates well, but it plateaus around 30MPH and inches up from there. Seems like a flat spot. The one system I did NOT get into was the drive system. Do you think that might be a carb issue or a drive issue?
Secondly, I rebuilt the petcock with off-the-shelf o-ring (I could not find a rebuild kit), but it seems to be hanging - sometimes fuel will not flow at start/low-idle. Do you know of a good aftermarket petcock and/or how to mount a standard (non-vacuum) on/off?
Thanks. BTW, I threw you a PP donation yesterday b/c these videos were pivotal in me getting it running at all. Thanks!!!
