My home town.. Before the Box Canyon Dam was built to back up the water to creat Lake Siskyou, the beginnings of the Sacramento River flowed thru what is now the bottom of the lake. We had a swimming hole there everyone enjoyed. There was, probably still is, an old bridge we crossed to get up to Castle Lake, Gum Boot. It didn’t have a name, but made of Steel so everyone simply called it “ Steel Bridge”

The Steel Bridge is still there under the water. It is said on really record low water levels in the lake you can see it poke through the water. Under the boat barrior by the dam is where the The Steel Bridge is under the water.

I was in Burney and the bus ride to even get to Redding was quite long so they aren't right by each other

Burney Falls, Shasta Dam, Whiskeytown, and the town of Shasta AREN'T EVEN IN THE SAME DAMNED COUNTY. The Mt. Shasta Sisson Museum is at Mt. Shasta, and it is a self-supporting wonder.
