“Doctor, engineer, lawyers, or a failures”
Asian parent favorite phrase. 😃
Yes it’s not just India’s traditions but everyone’s. Rich white people want their children to marry only in their tax bracket... Real love has no colour,$ocial standing, no boundaries or rules. Real love is priceless, precious and needs to be cherished.🇨🇦🙏👼♥️❤️😰❤️💚🧡💜💘💞💕💖

These are my mother's rules on how to become successful:
1. Study hard everyday
2. Become either a doctor, dentist, engineer or lawyer
3. Start business
4. After getting the money, buy your mother whatever she wants

Famous quote by my mother:
"Either you study hard and become a doctor, dentist, engineer or lawyer to be successful, or work at McDonald's and become a failure" ~Mother
Honestly sometimes I feel like they don't care about us, they just want us to be doctors, dentists or lawyers for the money 💀💀
As an Indian I'm glad my parents are ok with me choosing whatever I wanna be and where is wanna go even if I don't marry they just want me to have a happy life ❤

"i dunno...Maybe he can cook for himself or cook for his wife" best line i have heard! I'm so grateful I married a man who can cook, but due to him working most afternoons/ late nights i take care of a bulk of the cooking. I'm not working atm as we prepare for our first baby due in May 2022, so I have more time for domestic jobs. Everyone's circumstance is different but every man should learn the skill of cooking. When he cooks its absolutely wonderful. I remember one afternoon after work he surprised me with a cooked lunch, and he always steps in and cleans the kitchen without me asking, I think he has a better work ethic than me. So incredibly blessed
Congratulations!👣🍼

I actually really love the ending. Arjun seems like a very modern man, and so excited that Priya is so successful. Be it a sport career, a business or a marriage dream, its what makes u TRUELY happy and alive that counts. AWESOME WORK!!
This situation is familiar for me Right now. And I donʼt know how to solve it.
I can relate to this one. My family never encouraged me about my writing. None of them ever showed pride in me. My mom went so far as to say she could write too and penned out a short story. Only one she ever did. She didn’t write it because she wanted to write, she wrote it because she was jealous of me and to put me down. That was the day I put my pen down and never wrote again. Friends were always encouraging me about my writing… friends, never family.
You should try writing again. It can be therapeutic for people when they are going through a stressful time.
I'm sorry to hear that .. also want to be a writer....but my family isn't very satisfied with my opinion.
@@TheHarrab don’t do what I don’t stop writing even if no one encourages you, write for yourself and no one else.

This is really relatable as an Indian female. My parents are quite open minded and never push us to get married but my aunt is always making my sister, who is only 19, meet guys from her family. She thinks its always important to get a rich guy but obviously you can always take care of yourself if you make a career for yourself. We shouldn’t need a guy to pay for us.
Yeah true. Anyways I am a 20 almost 21 yr old Indian guy and I will only marry an American or European woman in future. I don't want arranged marriage in future. In fact I am planning to move to either US or Canada or UK for my higher studies and will settle down there and date an American or European girl. Most Indians are still so conservative and not open minded about dating. I am sure if I stay in India, I might end up in an arranged marriage in future and I don't want it. I wanna date in a more open minded country. Thankfully me and my parents aren't so traditional and I wouldn't even care if I don't follow my tradition by dating and marrying a foreigner. Honestly I can't even stand the crowded buses in my city anymore. It's due to such a dense population in India. Honestly I feel so suffocated while going in such crowded buses and have to also stand. I can't wait to move abroad. Hopefully next year or maybe after 2 years I will go abroad for my masters and will try to settle down there.

or marry or date at all. if you wanna stay single go ahead
Exactly. And some places are hugely male-dominated as parents will abandon a female infant or kidnap a male infant.
Very true this story is ! We indian girls are encouraged more on being reliant on men whether they are husband , father or brother! But time has changed now many Indian parents want their girls to be successful too as for their sons...... Nice story dhar, really touched me as an Indian.....
I'm Bangladeshi, and Bangladeshi parents tend to be the same as Indian parents but luckily, my parents aren't like that. I can work where I want, marry whoever I want etc.
@Jaspreet Singh ok
@yinfei. 🤍 Lol y u lying for? I've seen ur other comment which says "as a Pakistani girl" so r u Pakistani, Indian or Chinese???
@yinfei. 🤍 you’re saying you’re chinese + indian now but i’ve seen you say you’re pakistani + indian before, y’now you don’t have to lie about who you are for people to think you’re cool. people will start to come at you if they find out it’s lies.
sorry if i’ve got it wrong, i’m not trying to be rude, i’m trying to help-
8:41 i kinda ship them tho arjun nd priya
The mom is basically telling her daughter to be like a golddigger. Glad Priya didn't listen to mom and hustled for her success and the guy being open minded to helping her achieve her goals.
This issue really needed to be highlighted! It's awesome how dhar can spread awareness on so many things through entertaining stories , not something everyone can do!
Yes she should've let her daughter not get married but she had a heart to not care how much money he had and cause was teen pregnant with her she didn't need to take that out on her hopefully regret helped her learn
Thank you for watching, Leah. I appreciate it. Stay tuned for more videos to come.

Such a true story. During the old days we were pushed to do what our parents wanted us to do, but this is a new Era, so things are different. Thanks for bringing this up!
Thank you for watching this video, Pasindu. Stay in the loop for more.
the "engineer, doctor, or complete failure" part hit hard in my asian PTSD.
The whole episode made me so mad I barely could control myself thinking that this type of mentality still exist in our society n we as independent women face so many hurdles with every step we take. I really hope n pray that one day this all will be over n we're gonna have value n respect from everyone. Thank you for enlightening ppl with your vids you're doing a remarkable job
Hey Dhar, you hit the nail right on the head. When I was younger I was always told to do well in school find some successful. I have 4 children now and I'm grateful for this life lesson. Thanks Dhar

It’s weird not hearing the words “so you see”
Shut up bot
@@Neptune._. the bot has a point tho
It’s not a bot
Bots send links to ppl enter it
It actually isn’t a bot a group of ppl 4 from 1 country and another 4 from another 4 from USA and 4 from a place RHAT is hours away from USA so they can non stop comments as they get a comment and copy and paste so they earn subs
Fun fact: The word ,,beta", means in Hindi, son/daughter/my child/(my) dear/sweetie/sweetheart...
Thanku! Thanku!
I know, I helped with my comment the world. ☺😚😙
I want a part 2, 3, full length please. Story line has so much positive potential with true life ups and downs I can see this up to the point where auntie Patel becomes a Grandmom. So many 'life changing' story lines
More please
Oh yeah more Argin in too
This video covered a lot, like SOME parents are so traditional that as soon as she crosses her 20's she is enrolled into all those matrimonial sites, I feel so grateful that my parents never stopped me from doing whatever I want........... actually its very true that Indian parents are way too controlling, and also the way Arjun said, Doctor or Engineer or a failure, its so true like you would find this in every 5 houses out off 10....... and about respecting your elders, you have to just shut up and never talk back, like my grandma always taunts me for having a boy cut and I can't even protest! And also about the, wife takes care of house and husband works...... being a girl isn't so easy in this judgemental society!
True
💯percent true,, this is the sad reality

This is the video I loved most. It’s very relatable. I loved the quote - It’s being fulfilled that matters most, and it’s different for different people. I loved the ending.
It’s always “mom knows best for you” idk why-
