  • For two years now, the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti has been the undisputed consumer-level GPU king - but Nvidia's new Ampere architecture has arrived, with RTX 3080 taking performance to the next level. In this review you'll get to see just how fast this new card is, and whether it lives up to the early promise shown in our RTX 3080 early look video. NOTE: we re-tested Gears 5 after filming this - its jump from 2080 to 3080 it actually 69%, not 61%.

I had overclocked, twin EVGA GeForce GTX 970 FTW cards with top-binned GPU chips running in SLI in my gaming PC in 2016, it managed to render the most demanding games of the time at 60 FPS or far higher at 1920x1080 resolution with all graphics settings maxed out. When I upgraded from twin 970's to a single EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti XC Ultra OC (with top-binned K1A1 chip) in 2018, but keeping all other hardware components in the PC the same, I saw a 200%-300% improvement in frame-rate over what the SLI 970 FTW's could give me in the most demanding PC games while running the games at 3840x2160p with HDR enabled when available. Now imagine going from a single GTX 970 to a single RTX 3080, you would likely see a 300%-400% improvement in frame-rate at max settings in most games. It would be incredible!

Just undervolt & you can easily bring it below 300W(peak).
And from what's been said on the internet, only the RTX FE will have the higher TGP in vbios, AIBs would be capped to a slightly lower limit, so those could be more efficient but not as powerful, and I doubt that they will be running (appreciably) cooler than the FE which is already impressive given the wattage.

That's a tricky question to ask.... resolution is a key factor here, the 3080 is pointless unless you're aiming for 4K. the card also requires a 650W+ PSU so keep that in mind.
According to techpowerup it is roughly 3 times the performance but consumes more than double the wattage.

With the 10900k it gained around 20fps at that same resolution. This just proves the 3080 will be even more less utilized at 1080p with those cpu's vs the 10900k. those with an 8700k at 1440p or above shouldn't have to worry but those with a 1080p screen may think about upgrading their panel.

If you have a 4k monitor you might need it, otherwise no stress.
For me the most interesting part is the superquick loading of games but windows 10 will only have support for that next year. So any upgrade can wait.
