My friend with mobility issues loves this controller! It is fully customizable and you can take it apart and put it back together, which he has had done to his own personal taste. By now his looks a bit different than yours fresh out of the box, but I will say he has changed the button location and layout. I do remember him telling me he needed a little help taking things apart to move things around due to his dexterity but that was pretty much just the one time and now he can actually play a game instead of just struggling to hit tiny buttons. So it is a big win that way!
Yes he did! I told him about it when I saw a concept about it and he wrote to PlayStation... surprisingly they responded. He was pretty surprised they did because he's not a streamer or anything. They were just being really decent and that was cool! He said he had to send them feedback about it so maybe it was a tester program or something? Or maybe they were just being attentive to people who wrote them about it? PlayStation has had add on stuff before but this is sorta a whole new thing so they've gotta be looking out for how to market it. I just know he likes it, especially for games with quick time events which generally suck for him. We did meet through streaming but it was mine, and we became friends because we were both interested in accessibility. P.S. I am also impressed they aren't putting this at a stupid high price point. It is only a little more than the regular controllers. It would be dumb if they wanted to charge like twice as much.
@@cristyablad That’s so cool they did that! Fun fact, before the PS5 came out, I wrote to them as well saying that I wanted to do an accessibility review and they sent me one! They just seem to really value disabled players. Completely agree about the price, it’s something I discuss in my review that’s going up tomorrow :).
@@cristyabladIt's a good direction to move in. The Hori Flex is over $200 for the base unit. I hope we will see more affordable options going forward. Sony undercutting the XAC price while offering a considerably different product design is an interesting move. I hope this drives and inspires further innovation.
Great video Ross. Hope to see some gameplay with it. Also it was cool watching you figure out some of the features in real time. Gave some insight into a real user experience. Keep it up!
How big a hole would it make in your bank balance though? I don't see the point of this controller over a DualSense controller, other than the buttons and joysticks of the DualSense, it seems like they're easier to physically press than the buttons on this multi switch accessible controller. You can customise a DualSense controller to your specs as well. Just select Accessories in the control centre to connect and change things round. Personally, I'm keeping the default functions as they are, since I'm familiar with what everything should do and when it should do it.
Different strokes for different folks. I would argue the buttons are easier to press because there's more surface area. The DualSense buttons are much smaller and can be difficult to press if you don't have fine motor skills.

That's awesome! Out of curiosity, was your friend able to snag a controller early from PlayStation? Either way that's great :).

Thank you so much! I was hoping people would enjoy an uncut unboxing. Review comes out tomorrow!
This is really cool! Would love to see it in action.

Some folks with mobility issues find great value in it. I've seen a dude with really deformed hands on RUclips have no problem using it.
