UPDATE: Redmi Note 9S does support HDR content, appologies for my mistake. Just 1 day after releasing this video I have received software update for Redmi Note 9S - MIUI-V11.0.6 saying "Optimization: Issues with the display". It seems to be an update for the previous HDR bug, but it has nothing to do with screen bleeding. Screen bleeding is hardware related issue, not software. Cheers! :)

Actually, MIUI 11.0.5.0 already fixed the HDR issue. The latest update fix the bleeding issue at least on my device.

I think it's unfair to say to these budget phone "cheap rubber case" at least they care rather than 1000 dollar phones

Yeah same as myself. Got mine on April 22. Already unlocked bootloader and full debloated. On firmware v11.0.7.0 now...global version btw. Wish I could buy 6gb version like your. Anyway I'm a happy camper.

Thanks for the review. I've had the good fortune to do the research for a cheap phone for my partner. I've had the redme note 9s for a day and I'm surprised at your comments about sound. It's the best I've heard versus on my phones ever. I've got the Sony x1 and the sound of that is unimpressive. LG phone up to 6 the same. I thought the base was really good and the upper tones on the 9s. I'm thinking of getting myself one. I love the bigger phone size. The Sony x1 is too skinny and typing is really painful with such a narrow keyboard.
It is budget / mid-range phone, so for its price sound is okay :))

Bought mine about 3 weeks ago and I'm impressed with this phone. I have the 6gig 128g version and the phone has little to no lag. Only knock is that I tend to accidentally hit the lock button when in my pocket. MIUI takes some getting used to. Good camera and speakers for the price.
Agree with your points, it's a great phone, although if you need NFC function - I would wait for Redmi Note 9 Max (Global model).
Is the screen bleeding issue really so bad like other reviewers said?

got mine yesterday. the best feature easily is the macro camera that has autofocus AND can record video - don't know any other phone that has these featues.
add to it pro video controls and fantastic frame rate stability (most smartphones drop frames to save power/reduce heat) and i'm actually tempted to mix the macro footage in some of my client shoots 😏
also, the battery life is great for the performance it delivers. way more powerful than my LG V20 but not as battery sipping as Mi Max 2 (12hrs of screen on time/3-4days standby!)
also also, easily rootable and great community support...the Note 9 Pro/9S is a VFM masterpiece!

What about when you fast tapping in keyboard do you have an issue like in redmi note 7 ?
I hate my phone because of that I still have my redmi note 4 and I don't have this issue
What exactly is an issue with fast typing (dont have redmi note 7)? I am used to 90Hz AMOLED screen now, so LCD on Redmi Note 9S feels kinda slower in all ways (typing, scrolling, etc.)
Gohan i got this phone and thankfully i don’t experience any tap sluggish respond. Perhaps u might wnt to reduce animation speed on developer option. Tutorial how to make ur android faster available here on YT

If your keyboard laggs while fast typing.. tru reboot..it will solve the problem.. I had the same problem on redmi note 4

First question is about a comoparation between redmi 9s and redmi 8 pro wich i already have but I can change it in the next 3 days. The Pb with 8 pro is that it heats, a lot, while charging or especially talking on the phone. I don t play any games, I am not interested in games and from here is the first dilema. I know that 8 is good for games, but If this is not a need, is better to swich in 9s or still keep 8 pro?
I am more interested in good sound for recording, good pictures, good video and the abillity to load diferent aplications for diferent use.
And the second question was not only about what to chose between redmi 9s and redmi 8 pro, and about what to chose between redmi 8 pro, redmi 9s, iphone SE 2020 and realme XT?

Hi. Thanks for watching my video review and your questions:
1) If you're not interested in gaming - I would personally choose Redmi Note 9S or Note 9 Max (Global ver.)
2) Camera / Sound recording / Pictures / Video - Note 8 Pro and Note 9S will produce pretty similar results. Although - I would consider Redmi Note 9 Pro (as it has a slightly better camera with 64MP sensor).

Yes, fingerprint scanner works pretty okay with a case also. Also its quite fast!

Maybe buy or wait for Redmi Note 9 Pro? It's a better version of 9S with NFC, 30W fast charging and 64MP camera. Worth those extra bucks.

No, its not an issue for me at all. You will hardly notice it in everyday use.

Hi. I have covered this topic in my video as well. It does have screen bleeding, but it not really noticable for everyday use :))

My note 9s seem doesn't have the screen bleeding issue, or maybe i didnt notice it even I'm looking for it 🤣. And for gaming did you open Game Turbo mode? It seem to crash my game sometimes
I have tried both: with and without game turbo. Didn't notice any difference to be honest. Screen bleeding is more noticable on dark gray color.

He's my story if you don't mind. I have my A70 then suddenly A71 released after a month, ugh! My wife wants a new phone and she's send me the redmi note 9 specs. She ask me if the phone is good. I'm a xiaomi fanboy but when I have had my A70, I stopped informing myself about the latest version of their cellphone lineup because I'm poorly to have the new released. I told my wife chose the note 9s after I digged some info that its better to have 9s than 9. So here's come the idea of mine. I said to my wife to swap my A70 to her 9s 😂 why? Because of the processor is more powerful and it almost similar to the A71 which 730g, right? ☺ 😊 😁

Screen bleeding is likely a batch issue... My friend's phone doesn't have it though it is new releases one....I'm gonna wait till July to buy this just to make sure stock is new.

It's funny when you mentioned you don't like the power and volume button being on the same side, since I'm basically the opposite as I get confused which is which if they're on the opposite sides.
What's weird for me is the power button being on the side and being the power button too.

No its not bad. Its normal to ips lcd screens there are very little shadows in the edges. but its something you dont notice. Its good.

I got this phone for a week now, but have problem on over heating. Idk why but the reviews said that it won't really over heat that much but my phone does. But playing mobile game it well over heat in 5 min or lower. And my friend said that it is really unusual for my phone to over heat that much. I thinking to get a warranty of it. Please give me some advice of what should I do.
Ask for phone replacement from shop you bought it :) or send it to warranty.

Bro, are you sure? Screen bleeding is actually hardware related problem. Check your screen on the gray color background.
@@NiuxTech Yes I'm pretty sure, as I said. Its weird. In the latest update, 11.0.6.0, the problem is gone and I also checked with others that have the problem, they also reported that the issue is fixed. My theory is Xiaomi might add new algorithm to counter the issue in display.
