Hi Joerg. Love your videos and all the cool stuff you invent. I shoot bows for almost 16 years, mostly compound bows. I have 4 compound bows and a recurve bow. The person who says that finger release is more accurate than mechanical release is a complete fool! Finger release introduces more influence on the string because it has the possibility of human error, as the mechanical release is always the same, it works by simply gently pressing the trigger, that it not so suitable to introduce human error on the string since is not touching it directly. If has an error shooting, will be an anchoring error, not string error. Once again, love your work.
The potential here is incredible. With proper manufacturing power all kinds of refinements could be possible. *@JoergSprave* ideas/thoughts: If you make the slider thing an extractor, from a magazine that is fixed to the bow, I think you can get a little more accuracy too, since you are moving less weight that doesn't necessarily needs to be moved (only the string & 1 arrow needs to move). Then maybe you can even have another person that continuously swap magazines for "infinite" shooting, or have some kind of "arrow hopper" where that other person just dumps in arrows & they sort themselves out to be shot away.
Yeah no end to frustration when you have know it all that don't and telling you what needs to happen. Your a great sport for actually doing this video I wouldn't even acknowledge them.
Hi Joerg, one tip on weight of the instant Legolas - you can lighten it a lot by drilling holes in its body. (in dependance on the holes proportions) it compromises the structural integrity, but on SOME places (like the "magazine" sides, to see exact number of arrows resting in it) it might have other benefits, than simple weight reduction. If you decided to go for it, the lightest version i can imagine will be drilled in criss-cross pattern horizontaly (by bigger drilling bits) AND verticaly (by tinier drilling bits). Btw, you did a great job by (practically) prototyping the I.L.from its infancy to this state. Another point, wich might be voiced by some future custommers - Why is not the Legolas handle ambidextrous (i.e. why it is not possible to operate with left hand in same level of ergonomics, as with the right hand)? Anyway, thanks for your incredible ideas, effort, ingenieuity and enthusiasm, and looking forward new videos.
As a fellow product design student this is genius. Good job Edit: actually looking at this model I had some pointers that could help. So where the socket is to hold the bow frame. You have made it out of solid wood and carved a moulding for that bow to slot tightly into it (assuming to be that you would create a cavity for a certain bow shape to fit into that section when designing the model to be injection moulded as a sellable product) but what you could do which could be interesting is instead having like a sort of vice grip where you can change the diameter to fit a multitude of bow types. That way you can sell the product as an addon to peoples original bows . another thing I would mention is could probably Cad model this quite easily so its ready for mass production

I want to buy one so i can use my compound bow again, i went to a crossbow because of my disabilities
As a fellow product design student this is genius. Good job
Edit: actually looking at this model I had some pointers that could help.

I love it and clearly it's not a crossbow (first interation). This is fantastic, and its accurate enough. you are a very smart man. I agree about patents. The man in the small shed has invented so much over the years without patent lawyers and thieves spoiling the innovative process.
