he 16"x20" table top exposure is a low cost way to step up your screen printing exposure game! With this screen printing exposure unit you are able to burn higher quality and crisper images vs. using an above exposure light or the sun.
How? This table top exposure unit uses unfiltered UV black light which exposes a screen much faster than halogen or photo light. Also by using the foam pad that comes with the unit and about 25 lbs of weight you can create the positive pressure needed to sandwich your film positive and screen mesh to the exposure glass to ensure that fine detail, halftones and crisp edges can be exposed without light working its way around the edge of the image like it would if positive contact was not sufficient.
If you're an entry level, DIY or startup screen printer you don't need to spend thousands of dollars on a vacuum unit in order to expose fine detail and high quality images. Check out the video below to see how you can step up your exposure game with this affordable and reliable entry level 16x20" table top exposure unit. Развлечения
This video was so helpful! I just got my exposure unit recently. Can’t wait to use it, I feel a lot more confident after watching this 🙏
That's so great to hear! Congrats on your new unit, check out our "Learn" drop-down menu for a ton of how-to videos! www.screenprinting.com/pages/how-to-screen-print-video-series
Wow it even comes with the piece of foam.
This is huge.
A uv light bulb in any light box like they have been doing for 75 years wow. It is all about the foam
Well, this video did come out 7 years ago.. So I'd say they were in for about 68 years before we got to it. 😂😂
Wait, are you tweaking your exposure times? Depending on your emulsion, exposure times change.
How do I tell which exposure unit I have? It’s 20x24 with no lid and black light bulbs analog timer
Does anyone know how these do with alternative printing like Cyanotypes, Kalitypes, Platinum and Salt Prints?
I have. Image can't get a proper burn. Images seems to over burn but the back of the screen is just super under expose.
When you coated the screen with emulsion, was it coated on both sides or just one?
You should coat both sides. thanks!
so in the video you mentioned that 20 x 24 screens work with this unit? Will this unit cover all of the 20 x 24 screen?
Horacio Rodriguez no it won’t, it’ll cover about 16x 20 from center
I'm looking to purchase, but I have a question. What is the max size of DESIGN (the actual transparency film used when burning the screen) that I can burn? You mentioned 16x20 is the recommended screen size. Can the design be that large? Please respond thank you
Hello! This product here has been discontined but this is the new model, Baselayr X1620 Exposure Unit: scrnprntl.ink/BLX1620. It can burn 16x20 and 20x24 screens and I'd recommend image sizes 8 to 10 inches wide at most 10 to 12 inches tall at most.
I have the 16x20 I did 3:50 for a 230 mesh Cosme out under exposed the design was blur and emulsion was fading later I didn’t it fit again but this time it was still under exposed the Emulsion was removing but the stencil was there and hard to remove I did for 5:10 so what I need new bulbs?
Okay there could be a lot going on here, please give us a call so we can go over details and get you on the right track!
I have one of this Ryonet. =)
if icoated my screen 3x because of mistakes how long should i leave it on the exposure unit?
Luis Robles If the emulsion is thicker I would increase the exposure by about 15-20% for each additional coat.
I just bought one of these and Im waiting for everything to be delivered. Do I need to be in a dark room or just no outside light
Laura Davis Just in a light safe area, a light safe bug light works great
When applying emulsion to a screen how long do you have until you HAVE to burn an image to it? So how long can a screen with emulsion sit without a design in a box and no sunlight... days months etc
Hey A C! This will depend on the emulsion that you use. For a Diazo emulsion, I would say you can keep this around 3 weeks. For Non-Diazo emulsion, you are looking at about 3 months. These are all really rough numbers, and the results will vary depending on your environment and how they are stored.
Ryonet I was gonna use the hifi photopolymer you sell . Thank you for the response! I haven’t started screen printing yet but I am doing my homework on all your videos before I give it a go. Thanks again!

I've been losing a lot of detail with my unit. i just went back to using my halogen lamp because the lines were coming out cleaner. When i go to wash out a screen that has thin lines or distressing in it, i lose a lot of my detail. The thin lines usually don't wash out and when distressing i lose about almost half of the distressed look of the image. I've tried different exposure times and even stacking multiple transparencies on top of each other to make the design darker. Any other pointers on how i can fix this, because i would really like to use this for CMYK printing but if i'm going to lose detail then i think i should just not try CMYK yet?
Making sure you have plenty of weight on the screen, and try exposing a bit longer. What mesh are you using?
Ryonet I mainly use 150 or 200. Whenever i've been burning them, I've been using a thick piece of wood that i cut to fit inside the screen and then I place two paint buckets on top of the wood to increase the positive contact.
230 will probably work better for you, if those are the only screens you have stick with the 200 only. 230 will work best though.
Ryonet so it's the mesh count that's not allowing me to burn correctly? I thought it just had to do with the light source that you had
Nice
nice video! Where can i buy the exposure template strips? Thank You
+lbailey2705 Thanks for watching! You can find those here :)

Ryonet please reply to my comment... before I go and pull a trigger to the catspit product...
How long do you post harden on the exposure unit?
Normally you want to post expose around 5x the original exposure time. This will depend on how much you want your emulsion to harden 2x will work fine as well
@@Ryonet This was my question too. Thanks for being so responsive and helpful. I'm so excited to finally have an exposure unit in my home studio!
You need to ship kits to Australia
At this time, we can only ship internationally if the order exceeds $5,000USD. We are working to improve these requirements in the future, and are sorry for any inconvenience. You can find our full international shipping requirements here: www.screenprinting.com/ryonet-international-shipping-1
There is an international distributor that does sell a few of our products, as well as a wide range of other screen printing items. They are located in the UK, and you can find them here: daveroper.co.uk

Tebo Himes With that emulsion I would recommend starting at 2 minute exposure.
Sorry about the trouble.
Will 20"x 24" fits into this exposure unit?
Please reply...
This is a deal breaker for your product/kit and catspit (www.catspitproductionsllc.com) product/kit..
This unit is designed for smaller 16x20 frames. If you are looking to expose 20x24 frames, we recommend: www.screenprinting.com/ryonet-rxp-x-series-aluminum-uv-screen-exposure-unit-20x24
