It’s such a moving song anyway, but hearing the extra and very genuine emotion in his voice, being so overwhelmed to be back in front of a huge crowd again, just added to it and made the song even more moving!
Sam Tutty is an incredible talent. Can’t wait to see Dear Evan Hansen when it’s reopened!

Even with the sound issues, Sam was absolutely incredible
I was lucky enough to see Sam as Evan before the pandemic. Best Evan imo, brought me right to tears and didn't stop for a few hours

Sam really got me so hyped up??? Ofc there were technical errors with the sound system but gosh he really slayed this kind of stage where he had to build up the audience's excitement. Man he did such a great job!!
The sound for these has been awful. I'm not sure if it's the microphones itself or the loop through to the recording but something isn't sitting right. They all did incredible though!! It's so good to see live music again.
Doesn't look like they've got any in ears either so I'm shocked they can hear anything properly
I had to leave early so didn’t get to see this, but in-person from where I was (very close to the stage) the sound was great.
There are clips posted by members of the audience with better sound quality than this.
I actually noticed the same with the previous edition. That the sound was quite bad at times or very soft.
@@Ryan_P That's really good to hear! At least it was just the recording that was messed up. Would have been gutted if that was the sound that was pumping out to you all.
the live sound was way better than whatever this is... does Sam dirty tbh because he was absolutely amazing
It’s happened to a couple people here. Carrie Fletcher was done dirty as well! Shes a great singer but the weather disrupted what she could here and she couldn’t here when to come in for her dances 😕 should really come up with a better way to do this event!!
@@scottmorgan7566 they need in ears, and for the videos they need to record what comes out of the speakers exactly (or as close as possible) because that sounds amazing
@@luk3c1ary they need to record the audio and the video separately and then join them together because the actual music coming out the speakers there is usually great but the way that they film it messes it up
@@luk3c1ary have you ever seen anyone on stage in a theatre wearing in ears? That’s not the issue here. The issue is the mic tracks have had no treatment in post so they just sound dry and dead. There’s 4 wedges on stage so unless they had poor monitor levels on stage then everything should have been fine

We were there and the sound quality was fine. Sam sounded brilliant - a real stand out of the day. The sound quality of a lot of these videos doesn’t do the performers justice. Don’t judge him based on this video.
Literally the last live show I saw right before the world went into lockdown. Sooooo happy to see Sam Tutty still rocking the role and just how incredibly overwhelmed he gets from being in front of the crowds that adore him.
This cast get right in to your heartstrings and pull them until the tears start to fall. I was so lucky enough to see the show at the beginning of the run, It is an utter joy, even though it makes everyone cry! xx Welcome Back Dear Evan Hansen xx

I feel so lucky to have seen DEH in London in Jan 2020, I've loved the musical since 2017 and the music means so much to me and really spoke to me💙💙💙💙 Also, so lucky to have seen Sam Tutty!

He is a brave to cry and continue singing , he did a brilliant job
Sam has struggled with this performance BUT the sound engineers are at fault to be honest. Everyone is having to push much harder because the sound is dry and distorted! We all know that they are capable of better though 🥰
Also with nerves to perform again while to warm up the pipes can do that to you but I know he will get his voice again
West end live are known for this kind of stuff. Their sound quality is always below par and it’s actually really sad that these actors have to push harder. How hard is it to get good sound engineers…
He doesn’t even have in ears monitors in! That would be so hard for a performance like this. You’ll def over sing! He did great :)

OMG I love Sam Tutty! He's so kind, so talented and has such a nice personality. I actually met him on the 21st of October 2022 (the day before closing day) and we took a photo he was so kind and I actually saw him again in the street later! So excited to see what he does next. Good Luck Sam!!!!

Not sure what went wrong here but it deffo isn’t Sam at fault. I was there and he was brilliant today, a real stand out of the whole event for me. I audio recorded waving through a window and videoed you will be found and listened to them both back and he sounds great on there too, so really something has gone wrong somewhere with their sound / recording systems. I’m disappointed and shocked to see there’s any issue as it truly was a stunning performance live :-(

Everyone singing along was amazing and you could see the cast was shocked that everyone knew the words!! Best performance of the day!

The sound system was so bad during this whole thing, some casts even lost their tracks. Yes, Sam was off, mostly because he was completely overwhelmed by being back on stage

This Broadway musical is my favorite music
they most likely recorded the live sound directly from the system, and from experience, a live sound mix does not translate into a good mix for video. most other concert producers would do additional mixing for the video but it seems that WEL wanted to upload the videos as quickly as possible (like an hour after they perform??) so the sound is very much compromised..

What is up with the tech crew? I remember when I first went to watch west end life years ago, the lion king cast couldn’t perform their section because their mics just didn’t work at all. I know the event is huge and lots of pressure on the tech crew to pull it off. This isn’t the first time I’ve seen tech problems here and way before COVID 19 disrupted everyone around the theatre industry. But this cast did an amazing job even so 😊

In my opinion he is the best of the Evan Hanson’s. Vocally and acting wise. Ben Platt is amazing as a performer, but he’s not believable as a high school kid anymore.

Can he hear himself here? He seems out of tune/sync with the music. Might be because the music is too loud on stage? I've seen him sing in other videos just fine, but this seems like really bad cut.
I think there were issues across a lot of the performances with the actors hearing the music. Lots of pitch and timing issues that seem to be derived from them not being able to hear the backing.
Does anyone know who plays Alana here? I don’t think they have announced who is replacing Nicole Raquel Dennis, have they?
