Root rot: do you always fill up to the top? Maybe let the water level drop a little bit. I have grown lots of strawberry plants in hydroponics and they do well. I grow them in 4inch net pots filled with clay pebbels, water level covers only approx. 1 inch of the net cup.
And maybe you gave up on your plants too early. Strawberry plants are quite robust and can start growing again, even if the roots are damaged.
If you want more tips on hydroponic strawberries: the channel „Ditch the Flock“ has got some good videos, if you are interested.

This might sound counterproductive but I've read that strawberries don't like alot of nutrition . Try one batch with no nutrition supposedly it helps with the tips not getting crispy from mineral buildup . I am following along on your journey and have also sprouted strawberry from seed so I'm excited 🎉 I haven't come across the leaf burn just yet . I would show you but I can't attach a photo here . Keep us updated please 🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓

When I tried to grow transplanted Eversweet strawberries in my Aerogarden I had to keep the nutrients within a narrow range (I think 625-750ppm) or the leaves would start to become discolored within a day. I checked/adjusted the pH often, added an airstone, but they still always died after a few months and I gave up on strawberries late 2021. Seeing this video is motivating me to try a different strawberry variety but this time from seeds.

I use distilled water, GSE, and MaxiGro. Which type of water do you use in your hydroponic system?

    • @mornkel2125
      @mornkel2125 3 месяца назад

@@sogden2111 I use distilled water and add hydroponic nutrients („Tripart“ from T.A., 1ml of each part and 2ml CalMag per liter nutrient solution). I do not use Hydroguard or hydroperoxide. I do not measure EC or pH (i am too lazy for that). :-)

Honestly my new favourite channel, been looking at small systems for a while so my inside is an enjoyable as my outdoors lol, and you're the only person who tests and answers all the questions I had. Just got my idoo 10 pod yesterday, trying lettuce first as it seems the most useful to me, but strawberries are something I've struggled with outside so im hanging out to see ways to make it succeed.
Random thought, do you think maybe because the hole for the seed in the sponge is quite deep, filling with coco peat and having the seed closer to surface might making a shorter stem/crown? Less likely for rot to start possibly?

I use the Zazzle brand grapefruit seed extract (GSE) instead of Hydroguard. GSE works great--no root rot, no algae.

I'm growing seascape bare root strawberries in my aerogarden bounty basic. The roots are healthy and I have berries already. Mine are only 25 days old. Strawberries don't like a lot of nutrients.

Ok please try responding 1 more time.
When that happens, as it has to me too, I copy my text, then go out of YT completely, clearing out the open window, then back into YT app & the video you were trying to post to. Then paste what you said previously. Thank you kindly... awaiting your response. 😁

each plant has its needs. you don't have to use the same fertilizer for all types of plants you also need to buy a TDS to mesure the ppm in your solution and the PH.

Agree. I am not having any luck either. I have read some hydroponic-specific instructions from iHarvest and they mention the needed pH.

Wow I do thank you for all of your experiments that you do. I was wondering and I don't know if you have the answer to it but I was wondering how many gardens it would take to supply one person with vegetables everyday.😊

It depends on what you grow and how much you eat. Succession planting will be very important. Honestly, these small gardens are more of a supplement than a replacement for grocery shopping. I have 7 units and I can get something like a pepper or two from them every 3-4 days. Everyday would be far too much as it wouldn't to allow the plants enough time to regrow and mature more fruits. So for peppers I have 2 bounties I use in succession. Each bounty may have 2-3 peppers plants in them.

@jayme5280 thanks. I'm asking because I'm on a fixed income and for medical reasons. Stuck inside for 6 to 8 months during the cold weather. And I don't have the extra money to pay for deliveries. So I was thinking of trying to grow enough to help me out.

Thank you again for another great video and information. I know you have many AeroGardens. I started mine in December and I'm wondering how long they last, Do you have any that stopped working? Do you know how long the Harvest basic will last? Thanks🙂

ive had success with bare root starts from the box store and a lot of success cloning runners in aerogarden..but no berries...i had nice berries inside in a 5 gallon kratky jug but aphids came so i put it outside and had tons of berries so i agree its only really worth doing to start for taking outside in my opinion...but ill keep trying different varieties

I have been waiting for this video! The experience was looking promising for a while. Perhaps it’s the PH in your water? Strawberries are so fussy! I am having a hard time right now growing in soil.

Please try again I have been waiting on this video!
Haven’t tried strawberries in hydroponics yet but here’s what I’ve gathered:
You can remove the two black plugs on the back on the grow deck and feed air stones into you aero garden. This will hopefully help prevent root rot.
Another thing I’ve seen people do is use stones in the plastic cup instead of the usual growing media. You want to make sure the crown of the plant is above the rocks a bit so that it doesn’t get wet. It might save you a good amount of time to buy the started strawberry plants and that way you can make sure the crowns are above the rocks when planting
I’ve seen some people say not to use aerogarden fertilizer for strawberries (not sure why), but instead some other fertilizer. I think it was fox farm big grow or something I’m unsure
Best of luck I hope you figure these out!

If you compare the NPK ratio on Aero garden jug & on Maxi Grow, the Aero garden is much stronger than Maxi,Grow. For blooms, you want a higher P(phosphorous) & K(Potassium) number than the N (nitrogen).
The Higher N gives tall & bushy growth as needed for Swiss Chards, lettuces, greens etc... but blooms P, and for Roots you want higher K number & some P also for healthy root vegs(carrots, potatoes, beets etc).
Also I would be interested in knowing about the "Air stones" you are speaking of ... I'm not familiar with that/ those. 🤔
