  • The scenario everyone's been waiting for. Please guys listen to the intro of the video and do not skip ahead. And im only going to say this once in the description. If i get the "This didn't happen to me when i did this level" or "your not playing on titan difficulty" Your comments are going to be deleted. Period. I explained in the intro and even in the beginning of this expansion pack walkthrough WHY that was the case. And I'm damn sure when I do the gold edition version of this level its going to get tough anyway. You have been warned. I seem to have gotten a mid aggressive opponent this time. No cavalry and loads of Satyr attacks but I did get a good chunk of myth units as well as arcus and murmillo thrown at me. I imagine when i do the gold edition that will change and they will hit me wit those.
    So we immediately send our Son of Osiris and co back to one of the passages near our bases where we can defend and build up, we also leave the wall partially open and build a Migdol here. This is because the enemy wants to focus mainly on 2 targets. Your gold trade route and your Son of Osiris. We wall off the other pass 100% because we only want to leave a small opening. We also send units out to go grab the camel caravans required because we can't train them until the mythic age because in this scenario they are blocked behind the Ballista tower technology to make it harder. The main units we want to train in the meantime are chariot archers and priests. We also want to keep 5 priests back at base to stop any Roc drops from landing in our base. We do also need to build a couple of monuments to get upgrades that need favour as well as a couple more Migdol's at the guardian we need to revive. Once you have a big enough force and the Migdols are up, send your army to the guardian, wall off the pass completely after you do this and have the Son of Osiris stay near the guardian to revive him. If you want since at this point your pretty much secure you can attack the enemy if you like. You should have more then enough resources and upgrades to do whatever you want! This may change depending on how aggressive they are attacking you so if you want to play it safe just wait until the guardian is revived. Once the guardian reached around 18800 hitpoints, Cerberus will come and attack you if you haven't don't anything to him. Its honestly quite easy to hold him off just throw your units at him and the guardian once revived will do the rest. Congratulations you have beaten probably the hardest or 2nd hardest level in this campaign!

    There is actually a way to completely ignore most of the myth units and hero arcus that show up, as they are targeted towards the SoO rather than either a wall or your town center. Right at the start of the game, move the SoO over into the bottom left corner of the secret island near your base, and set his stance to stand your ground. This pulls half of the auto generated troops off of you. To kill the titan, just get Phoenixes in the mythic age and bully the titan with them after blowing up the red base.

    Well, thanks for what looks like a stable start, I was struggling with the opening piece due to the utter BS they threw at you.
    The initial hellspawn are waypointed directly in front of the right walls and will attack walls on the way there, meaning they can't be delayed by abusing the AI's pathfinding. The 8-murmillo squad is waypointed into the middle of your town, so if you wall off the trade route and make an opening on the left wall of the base, they'll walk there (but the hellspawn will still go right rather than left despite there being an opening to their destination). And then there's a specific assault made against your SoO.
    Things I now know about this mission; The Guardian is safe and (presumably) cannot be attacked and the SoO can be healed. Meaning I can create a reasonable choke to funnel all enemies stabilize once I get trade up and running rather than juggle two spots of defense I couldn't before.
    Also, the funny detail of difference between Hard and Titan difficulty;
    In Hard Mode (COMPARED to Titan) you get;
    +800 Starting Gold
    Two watch towers near the Guardian
    A Temple in your base
    A Completed wall-off on the right side of your base
    Infantry is now Medium Infantry with Copper upgrades across the board.
    And the Murmillo waves come in 5s rather than 8s, still fully upgraded, the rest, no clue.

      Yeah this is not a consistent level unfortunately, me and a friend have tried so many ways to find what makes these levels tick but we can't really make heads or tails of it. Hopefully with Retold that might change a bit. Even if it means the level is consistently hard at least then a strategy can be consistent :)

      @exzenosisharbingaar9000 Год назад

      @@MajorFoley I don't got high hopes for Retold given the current climate of games. But if Microsoft stays faithful to historical accuracies for the cultures they're derived from, then I'm cool with it.
      Though after the Cerberus one, Rampage was weird; the attack wave that the Titan sends at you never came, which I figured was a bugged tick like the inconsistencies of Cerberus since the previous tries of the level, the attack wave came and couldn't withstand it. But, due to that bug, Rampage was sadly easier than expected (but the last 3 Atlantean ones were laughably easy)

    • @MajorFoley
      @MajorFoley  Год назад

      @@exzenosisharbingaar9000 From what I've seen Rampage isn't really bugged, but then that's because i always kill the army before it has a chance to build anything :)

      @@MajorFoley Ah, never considered striking first. But no really, I just had a weird instance of anticipating the big wave of units and it never came, meaning I could just funnel Jarls, Throwing Axes and Folstag to the Titan.

  • @Antrikkos576
    @Antrikkos576 7 месяцев назад

    This stage was driving me crazy. I almost gave up thinking the titan difficulty was impossible. There were just so many attacks on my trade route and I thought I couldn't leave the Guardian alone so I had to fight in two fronts with not enough army, gold or time to handle all the attacks. Then I figured a pretty funny strategy that worked for me:
    1) Gather most of the camels as fast as possible as MajorFoley shows in the beginning
    2) Send all your army where the guardian is, so they can fight off the myth units while SoO revives the Guardian
    3) Send Amanra close to the temple in the right side
    4) Prioritise advancing to mythic age. You want to get there as soon as possible.
    The trick is to use Amanra to lure all the Murmillo attacks on her, then keep her constantly moving in circles so that they can never get to her because she's faster but they keep following her. As soon as you get to 1000 gold and 1000 food (maybe buy some food if you have enough gold), advance to mythic age with Thoth and send the phoenix above Amanra. Amanra will keep al the enemies busy while the Phoenix steadily annihilates them. Maybe bring more Phoenixes if you can afford. Meanwhile keep an eye on the Guardian front and build a Migdol and Barracks as soon as possible to gather more army, although getting to mythic age should be first priority because Amanra can't hold them forever.
    I know it's a bit silly and it required a lot of pausing but it worked. I was curious to see how other people managed it. Interesting that camels become available at some point. Very nice videos btw!

    • @MajorFoley
      @MajorFoley  6 месяцев назад

      Thanks!
      That's an interesting strategy but not one I'd have thought of myself since I don't really use the pause buffer trick. The issue isn't exactly the murmillo (although annoying if they do slip in) but the arcus focusing the SoO with some of the myth units supporting them and having to keep some other units behind to stop any drops in your base.

    • @jonafic
      @jonafic 6 месяцев назад

      Sending all your army where the guarding is means that they'll attack your camels and you're gonna end up without any gold though

    • @MajorFoley
      @MajorFoley  6 месяцев назад

      @@jonafic The issue is the various composition of the armies that attack. Sometimes they'll send Fire Giants or Satyrs to try and break through the bottom passage or satyrs so you cant really just have all your army in one place you need to split and that's kind of the issue as if that broken wall goes down the Murmillo are getting there anyway. The arcus are the ones that target the Son of Osirs directly so they are usually the bigger threat to him. There's not really any consistency to this level just like Atlantis Reborn. In a way makes it fun and challenging but also annoying in a way because its hard to plan with the limited resources you start with. Not to mention if the AI decides to sent the Contarius army or not, or decides to use Vortex and then lets not forget the Roc drop if you don't have priests in your base.
      It is 100% possible to hold where the Son of Osiris starts but its also harder due to how open it can be with the limited forces initially. Might give it a shot my next Marathon see how it ends up but I think holding the top passage with a Migdol and getting enough chariot archers to spam is one of the easier ways to deal with the level, certainly not the only way to do it though :)
      This is one of the levels I'm looking forward to seeing redone in Retold Edition. Same with Atlantis Reborn

    People have said that the bug with the Murmillos getting stuck happens when you skip the Cutscene at the start. If you let it play for 5 seconds it doesn't happen. Something to do with the triggers.

    • @MajorFoley
      @MajorFoley  Год назад +1

      Don't think it does. A friend and i keep trying to figure out the campaign and why it does some stuff the way it does and it never really makes sense at times lol. A good example is Atlantis reborn and this one. But yeah I've tried early ending cutscenes or watching all of it and you'll still see stuck murmillo in their base. I think its just titan difficulty overfills them. I'm hoping Retold will fix some of this stuff and make it more consistent :)

    Man this mission makes no sense in EE. Around the bit where they go 'the hordes of the underworld do not cease!' I get stomped because the usual wave of Murmillos and myth units comes in backed up by two equally big groups of Arcus + a wave of Turma, which just shred my army of chariots. You had... the same usual wave of Murmillos. Likewise for how aggro they are with the eastern wall vs how aggro they are with the main gate vs whether the Murmillos just run past my army and suicide onto the trade. Feels completely and totally random. I would almost be willing to bet there's some sort of seed that is set during the cutscene for how aggro the AI is, because just hitting the restart button during gameplay just results in the exact same outcome.
    Also there's a pretty awful bug where your usual Pharaoh will not spawn until you research City of the Dead. Since the SoO is stuck fighting at the past, if you don't realize this quickly you're basically playing with a handicap all game long due to how bad Laborers are. Retold can't come soon enough, man.

    • @MajorFoley
      @MajorFoley  Год назад

      You have the Son of Osiris so the pharaoh missing doesnt really mean much here and its one you can actually heal with priests albeit slowly. Yeah this is one of the issues of this map just like Loki's temples in regards to how the AI works in this one.
