Go to Grenada landing in late March Into May take note of all the guides and the double trips that they book each day ! I know the guides have to make a living but it is killing the lakes.
You have those in early spring that set up in campsites and have Trailer Mounted Freezers. Mainly from Mo. and IL. I have chatted with them on numerous occasions and they will flat tell you they catch All the Crappie for the year and go home. They camp for sometimes a month before the go home.
@CBGRTR sure I do, quit spouting nonsense in defense of your crutch, there's a reason that the possession limits have been steadily decreasing, it's down to 10 crappie at lake Grenada and others.
It is past time for all of the lakes to outlaw livescope and multi pole fishing. The cities and individuals cashing in on this public resource is going to deplete the resource. Then what?? Years of no resource. Solution is very simple.
Wrong. The biologists will regulate the lakes as they have always done. As fish populations decline they will adjust the creel limits. No need for all the law fare.
@@markniles3013 you are correct that the biologists will adjust the creel limits which would have stayed 15 if there were no livescope and troll fishing happening. The issue is that biologists are ok with dropping the creel because there is substantial revenue being generated currently. My issue is the lakes have always produced adequate numbers for all fishermen to enjoy until now. Fisherman who save up PTO from their job to take advantage of the spawn in these lakes are not going to do that for 10 fish which mark my words will be dropped to 5 fish because of the commercialization of these lakes. These are Corp of Engineers water shed lakes and are available for all license holding American citizens. Why should the majority of these fishermen, who are not Guides, the group being allowed to deplete the resource be penalized for poor policies regarding livescope and trolling???
@bryanpoteete7264 They can't deplete the fishing if the creel limit is lowered. Let's not forget the days when you could keep 50 fish in Mississippi. If the limit has to go to 5, then so be it. That doesn't mean you can catch them, it only means you can't eat them. Let's be honest nobody is fishing to survive.
having FFS or spider rigging/ long lining does not make it deplete anything. maybe you should bitch about the waders that walk thru the shallows walking on egg beds during the spawn time.

These guides are raping the lakes 10 months out of the year.
They can make a living doing something else.
Great interview my memory was the first 12” limit on Sardis started in August 2007.
I hope these lower limits causes some of the out of state guides to stop coming.
Why don’t y’all do the same thing on the lakes on the tenn Tom water way?
Why not implement a stocking program for crappie like Gatlinburg does for trout?
Because the genetics are what make these lakes what they are. Enid fish size has suffered due to introducing (stocking) fish.

Livescoping fish is like spotlighting deer......
You'd have to have done both to know that for sure.
Who says they haven't?@@marshalllaw4116

Not even close you dont know what your talking about

There is to much money to be made by guides so they will continue to over harvest fish.
Which is ironic, because depleting the resource will lead to worse fishing
Guiding should no be allowed on public lakes
I've been saying that for years. It's commercial fishing. Making money off of a public resource.
I agree. It's not allowed for deer hunting on public land.
