Yes jbmusicman1 .....Steve M has been around much longer that Petrucci.....and DT has been covering Steve's material (with the Dixie Dregs) since the very early days of DT....I am sure there is a mutual respect between the two of them as they are both incredibly gifted
I know that this is part of the AA Suite and is thus a natural choice for Portnoy in choosing to cover it with no other members of DT, but I wonder if their choice was at all affected by the fact that Labrie's singing on this song is technically (not emotionally, a subjective as that is) quite simple compared to other songs in their catalog. I love all of the vocalists in FC, but I none of them really have Labrie's range or control when he really gets going.
Yes..."I've never done a G3 tour with Steve Morse, and of course, Steve is my favorite musician of all time, so it's going to be a lot of fun to play with him" Petrucci in an interview for a Brazilian site.
Whatever Morse plays, whenever he plays it, IS the right solo.
