- Erik from Farpoint Farms finally gives the old "M.U.T.T" a ride and shows off its current state.
Its a fun little ride that can be quiet scary to ride here in the mountains.
Pretty neat fast mower. I wish my E110 John Deere goes that fast. Thanks for the idea to make my lawn mower less noisy.
Love the build. Did stuff like that as a kid on the farm. You could always use a multitool and cut lugs out of the old tires. And add a drum brake to the top of ur rear pully and add a hand brake.
Never heard of that brake Idea! Pretty cool!! Love building these little critters.
OMG, that far away and it's loud! LOL
I was just waiting for you to say "Hey everybody, watch this!" Right before disaster strikes.
Cheers for posting! What a great idea!
A used motorcycle seat might b a good idea and 21" wheel/tires off another used mower. I like the paint job.
Thanks for the Ideas. I'm still looking for an old set of ATV tires o put on this thing, but I never thought about a motorcycle seat. That would be great!
Pretty cool though, good hobby
Moves right along.
It's scary! I love it though. I made a second version that is way cooler. check out the MUTT-2 here on my channel 6 or 7 videos that show how it was done.
@@FarpointFarms Will do

Converting an old riding mower to a firefighting rig and trailer with twenty five gallon tank hose and sprayer two fire extinguishers and other gear as well
Dude! That sounds awesome . I can't wait to see the finished project!
New sub, thinking of building one of these for myself.
I have a Bradford Monte Carlo 8 with a 17.5hp Briggs and Stratton Pully swapped 10 to 2
That setup must scoot!
I have a J.D. Sabre with a 18.5hp Briggs &Stratton. It came with a 48 inch deck. After 1 1/2 years looking I found the snow blade for it with a set of chains. Our Drive is ugly in the snow. It will be nice this year paired with a nice craftsman snowblower.

How is the steering and brakes ? sure can hear the pullies !
Cool! I have three of the GT5000-6000's two three speed with high and low and one hydro . Which one would be the best for that kind of a conversion?
The manual three speed hi/lo one would make a great atv. The hydro units don't go faster if you do he pully swap. It just causes the internal hydro pump to pump faster, but doesn't change the speed of the mower.
the mutt !
How much torque did you lose swapping out the rear pulley with a smaller one?
trappistachel some, but in first or second, you can still pull with it. past that it's speed and little else.
Hauls ass.
The pully he swapped to is 2.6x smaller sooo. Alot!
Dual mufflers not dual exhaust.
Need a rear rack now
You're going to get a larger pulley because it's too fast?? I'm not seeing the fast part
Yes, the 15mph may not seem that fast, but the first time you hit the tiny little brake and it doesn't even begin to slow it down, you will feel like it's way to fast.
Maybe if I lived somewhere where the land was flat I would be OK, but it's just not safe up here. I've swapped it out for a pulley that maxes out at around 10, and that's fine with me.
@@FarpointFarms then put it in a lower gear
rototiller tires
Why wouldn't you give a couple passes showing the other two gears. People really just want to see how fast it goes so they can determine if they want to turn their own lawn mower sitting in the corner into a entertaining vehicle . It seemed pretty slow to me which doesn't seem really all that fun
It's those brakes! I just don't have the Balls for it.
It is Alive uuujajajajajaj
How is it even cheaper than the cheapest ATV? There are plenty of ATVs on Craigslist for under $500, which is cheaper than your tractor when you figure in all the time/money you've put into it. And the cheapest ATV will still be FAR better than that thing. It will be more powerful, faster, more comfortable, and more reliable. You'll be stuck in the first moderately deep puddle you go in.
You are joking right? I have less than $100 in this thing. Find me an ATV for that and I'll come pick it up today.
I just picked one up for $150. Is that really the goal, to get something as cheap as possible, even if it sucks for the intended purpose? I spent $50 more, but can go faster, don't get stuck in puddles, are more comfortable, and more reliable.
That's the great part about living in a "free" country. What works well for my may not work well for you and vise versa.
I did the math on this thing and I have $48.45 in it so far. 1 tire tube, 1 belt, 1 pulley, and 1/2 a quart of leftover paint. The mower was free as was the "throttle" system I rigged up. The exhaust system I put on it came from other projects so it's hard to say if it really cost me much to put it on.
Again, it works great for me here on the farm and has had many hours of use. the best part is that it's a constant work in progress. I can soup it up, or alter it to fit future needs if needed.
I just can't justify spending money on a real ATV as I don't go 4 wheeling or use these things as toys so I don't need those added features. For what I needed here on the farm this little Mutt works wonders and was also fun to build. For me there is a sense of satisfaction with making due with less. Not everyone feels that way and I get it. I really do. I've just learned to be more creative as I've been pretty poor for most of my life.
Take care!
You talk too much, and it's still too loud.
Does your life suck so bad that you have to insult strangers on the internet to feel better? I genuinely feel sorry for you. I can't imagine how tuff it must be for you to be nice, but I will pray for you.
@@FarpointFarms Hey, I didn't lie, wasn't rude or crude. Short, sweet and to the point. This was the second vid about the same tractor and most of this one was just you saying the same thing again and again. Think of it as constructive criticism. People didn't click on the link to hear you talk, they want to hear the mower and how loud/quiet it is. If you think that wasn't being nice, if you thought that was an insult... you should not be on line.
@@georgesimpson3113 we can all recognize when an online bully will bait someone into defending their work and then pounce on them for doing so. If you dont have anything nice to say then keep it to yourself. Your criticism wasn't constructive, it was mean spirited.
a piece of shit old lawnmower without the mowing blades. completely useless.
Is this the part where I'm supposed to care what you think? Sorry to disappoint you, but this is the most fun you can have with $40.00 and some skills.
