Keeping Quiet by Pablo Neruda

- 🔰This another collaborative project with Iness on a poem that is a bit underrepresented on the internet but in my mind it's more relevant than ever. The entire shooting took place in a small greek village and I attempted to showcase the life of fishermen in the area. I'd like not to explain anything else about my interpretation of the poem and about the reasoning of my visual selections. Please don't follow my example and share your thoughts. By the way, It's been a year since this poetry project took off on my channel and I can say with certainty that collaborating with people has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of this journey, so a big "thank you" to Iness for contacting me and making this video a reality.

🔰Keeping Quiet by Pablo Neruda
Now we will count to twelve
and we will all keep still
for once on the face of the earth,
let’s not speak in any language;
let’s stop for a second,
and not move our arms so much.
It would be an exotic moment
without rush, without engines;
we would all be together
in a sudden strangeness.
Fishermen in the cold sea
would not harm whales
and the man gathering salt
would not look at his hurt hands.
Those who prepare green wars,
wars with gas, wars with fire,
victories with no survivors,
would put on clean clothes
and walk about with their brothers
in the shade, doing nothing.
What I want should not be confused
with total inactivity.
Life is what it is about;
I want no truck with death.
If we were not so single-minded
about keeping our lives moving,
and for once could do nothing,
perhaps a huge silence
might interrupt this sadness
of never understanding ourselves
and of threatening ourselves with death.
Perhaps the earth can teach us
as when everything seems dead
and later proves to be alive.
Now I’ll count up to twelve
and you keep quiet and I will go.
Ur bringing life back to a forgotten art. Reminder set
Since you are here, poetry isn't forgotten.
i began thinking, then i remembered..to dream
is how your poetry moves me.
Most people keep saying (your or ur ) it’s not the word is you’re
@@valarierampersaud7478 His life is his life
I agree. Poetry is not forgotten and most likely never will be. Many many people, read, write, speak, breathe, fucking live poetry everyday.
SO DAMN THANKFUL THIS CHANNEL EXISTS
I'm humbled, thank you
@@illneas the fact that you reply to all the comments is amazing - Huge respect man
Waiting direly
Pablo neruda's poems are totally filled with unmatchable expression of love
I know. That almost made me, the guy who enjoys heavy metal Lyrics as Poetry, cry. sometimes I feel or think that its so easy , much easier than wars and evacuated politicians to just pursue whatever interests us, so long as you do not step on anyone else's toes while doing it. I dunno how people can just seek someone to follow so they can do what? Poor Devils..
I have this poem in my school book thanks this channel who made me fall in love with it .
The begining scene with the hands that seemed to grasp at something that wasn't there, that you shot was very cool. The poem made feel the same, like trying to grasp that peace we all want, but can't seem to find. I can tell your pushing your creativity while keeping viewers happy with the bukowski videos but works like these will make you stand out. Keep going man.
Thank you for appreciating that shot, I feel similarly about it. It's truly hard to find a balance between what makes me happy and what the viewers want to see. I don't want to create for the sake of views and keep people happy but I don't want at the same time to be selfish. I know that this community is maturing and growing with me and at the end of the day, it will be worth it for both parties. Take care
Her voice coupled with this seaside imagery and sounds relaxes the tensions that bind the mind and soul for just a moment that we wish could last forever. I haven’t felt this kind of peace in a long long time. Very beautiful🥂
Yeap, her voice is really relaxing, it affected the way I edited this. Thank you for watching ^^
I also made some on my channel hope u give it a watch 😊
Neruda's works usually remind me of so many of the abandoned buildings and communities that I see every day while driving to my job. It's an otherworldly feeling reading his words, like sharing a dream that you couldn't explain with someone. Excellent introspective philosophy for these confusing ass covid times.
That book-end of counting to twelve is sobering. It really did bring a moment of quiet within me.
The performance of the poem is touchingly beautiful.
Thank you ❤️
Blessed be. Beautiful, perfect, just what my soul needed. Thank you. Peace
I not only heard these words I felt them
I remember this studying in my english class but today's the day when it actually makes sense beautiful work💜🌼💜
That's so nice of you, thank you
This was like my favourite poem out of all syllabus back in 12th
@@somethinglikethat5466 sameeeeeee
i am in class 12 and i am currently reading this poem.
CBSE kids 😂❤
I love this, it’s just so appropriate for our current situation.
To take a moment to breathe, stop and listen instead of constantly moving in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. So many find themselves forced to do just that and it’s a little frightening when we’re so used to the idea of always having to do something, to always work and be productive.
When really we should be able to take a few minutes just to listen, breathe and relax.
Her little sighs, longing and exasperated really add to the words as does your imagery of nature and the sea.
Thank you for once again sharing a little piece of calm to think on!
That's the message, taking the time to think in a world that doesn't allow that.
I wish my wife would tell me to keep quiet with such eloquence.
🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣.. Great
🤣🤣🤣
Lol wow
🌸 you have to renew the old things you want to keep 😢
For me the most poignant line of this brilliant poem is "the sadness of never understanding ourselves." It is in silence and reflection that we connect with our Inner Divinity, and in that connection we understand that there is only one Being here, indeed only one Being that exists in the Universe, expressing itself in infinite ways. Most of us are looking to have our needs fulfilled from outside of ourselves, when what we truly seek is within. When we find it, we can then see it in all others, and end this "heresy of separation" on Earth. As the Buddha said, a man who truly loves himself cannot hate another. When will we have world peace? When we have a world full of people who have inner peace.
That was beautifully written. Thank youu!❤️
Without noticing, I locked on to the screen, because while watching calming video clips, listening to this beautiful poem from a soothing voice of a lady made my heart and my breathing slow down.
I really needed this. This is one of your best works. Please, keep producing. Thanks.
That's great, thank you for watching ^^
I read this poem in my english notebook but i studied only because to score good finally i can feel this felling and i'm getting goose bumps now..
It so peaceful
This poem was in our English textbook this year. Our English teacher is wonderful, such a great poem with a great meaning.
A kid with a camera and a great companion in the darkest hours.
Hahahah yeap a kid with a camera
A poem I have wanted to hear, so eager, can’t wait
I'm from India and I'm a student and this poetry is in my English book I love your work so much
I love seeing these words through your eyes....it's very special. 💜🕊
Sharing my point of view, with you guys has been great.
I thank God I found this channel. Wow! This is the kind of literature I've been missing my entire life. My rocking chair and a cup of coffee looking out my window.
... silence, graceful silence.
Simply lovely, touched me deeply! Thank you. Love and light, Stephen
The narrator has such a lovely, slight accent. It is beautiful and very effective. This was so lovely: the poem read by this narrator.
The words, the voice, the images are all so lovely. Thank you for this. 🖤
I love this great mystery lying in poetry. It is possible to understand what lays beyond although you're not a native speaker. The words bring a mystery with themselves, what a pleasure to hear it!
this is such a beautiful poem! introspection is such an important concept.
I'm glad you like it.
can you elaborate introspection for me please

Stop lying.
Bro I'm lover of stories and poetry.
And you give me so much craziness for poetries.thanks bro
🤗
thank you so very much for offering this treasure.
Hello Judith!!!!
Oh this is extremely beautiful! So serene!
This poem brought tears today, not certain why, but a deep feeling and wave of loss hit my heart especially with the last sentence.
The first time i read this poem was in my school textbook at that time i wasn't mature enough to grasp what really this poem holds. Today when i heard it, maybe it was the voice or the scenes going behind or maybe just the words but it made me cry a little. Maybe it's the situation we are in these day, lockdown and quarantine whatever it was i am glad i found it.❤❤
Thank you for being here, have a great day ^^
The reader has a slight accent that gives and addtitional dimension to the words she's reading, honestly thank you for this channel.
You read this so beautifully x
This gives me a sort of peace I've never felt.
This channel just gets better all the time, though by now I may be sounding like a broken record, for some reason the poetry, the orator the music, it just resonates and my mind just focuses on every point, thanks again and keep well!!
Thank you so much
Thank you so much for making this.
Im feeling so good to have this poem in my school book. I'm very happy to read , understand, analyze the words of Pablo Neruda. Thank You So Much
I haven't read enough Pablo, but he is up there with the greatest who ever lived. Thank you for this video, it is so beautiful, and helps me see the world in a less painful way.
damn! brought me straight to tears.
So beautifully portrayed. And a touching narration!!
What a beautiful poem! Fantastically recited!
what a loving and clearly satisfying story before bed.
This is the teaching of Eastern gurus and Western minds - of Lao Tzu, Krishnamurti, Sadhguru, Alan Watts - spoken in lyrics. That's the beauty of poetry, the condensed essence of simplicity. Beautiful imagery as always, a poetical illustration in its own right.
Thank you for this.
Hi Stig. Yeah, made me think of the Dao De Ching too. Mayahana Buddhist tenets as well. Words of Advice from Atisha. Deep stuff! Best wishes.
Thank you for that.
Beautiful! Everything in it - the poetry, the voice, the visuals, the music. It's like different layers of skin perched so comfortably. I encourage you to please keep doing this. Love it!
Let's practice the art of stillness and doing nothing for the spiritual progress of our inner selves, for better connecting with nature. Thank you for this beautiful upload, illneas 🖤.
Please be quiet.Do not say a word. If what you are going to say hurts others. Silence is the best spoken word used that does not harm others! Quiet, listen to the sea speaking, the birds singing and my soul speaking please do not hurt me be quiet!!!
This is so beautiful ! The poem, the narration, the music, the visuals...a delight ♥️ thank you xx
Perfect poem for this hard times
This is a form of art in itself. Everything is perfect, the recitation, the music, the footage, and of course Neruda’s words. I hope one day to be able to shoot my own footage like you for my poetry reading videos. This channel is an inspiration!
I remember reading this in our English textbook. What a poem! It felt really impactful then, it does so now.
I'm here. Can't miss
Sometimes, we have to put our arms down and let go of something that we've been carrying for now or a long time. I believe the poem reminds us not to get lost or carried away on life because it will just keep going while we, are here living in a very brief period. Life, is not all about moving on, making money and name for yourself. It is mostly made up of the little things that mattered to us and gives mean to existence by way of appreciation. I may sound cliché but that's what i think it is.
Pablo Neruda : so this moment of urgent silence and subtle moves through images.
The orator has done a splendid recitation of the poem....the beauty and poignance of Nerudas poetry comes alive ❤️
The greatest Latin American poet of the twentieth century, 🇨🇱 Chilean Pablo Neruda... thanks for so much
Neruda is one of my most favourite poets. True poetry is such a lost art. This is one of my favourite poems of his. I have it framed in some art work I did with it. This poem is truly of another time and place many of us long for. Thank you for this. It brings such a reprieve from the noisy and toxic world we live in today. 🙏♥️✨
I met death. After lunch and a cup of coffee he said he's keep me in mind. (I paid)
That was so beautiful. I am so grateful for this moment.
At night when eye refuse to shut, all those memories brings pain back. And these work of you somewhat doing the work of painkillers.
I was feeling left out, sitting in the back seat of my math class, hiding my flamingo book with my rough copy, reading Chapter 3
keeping quiet. And to my suprise today I came across two videos one introducing Pablo Neruda and now this beautiful poem
right now, i needed this. thank you so much to you and Iness.
I'm glad it found you, have a great day.
This is one of my favorite poems.. it so beautifully written, and pulls at your heart strings in unfamiliar ways you just understand it so much, and yet feel so calm.. and collected
Never felt so much all at once in my life. Thanks
Thank you for saying that.
Richard Siken or Vanessa Kissule next? Beautiful shots and music; it elevates the experience of the poem to something else. I get a lot of new poetry from you. Thank you for doing this.
This poem was in my 12 th standard English course 😊
Ayy sameee
One of those beautiful art pieces which i read in school and actually remembered it ...till now......♥️♥️♥️....this piece should never be forgotten...

How can every one of your video make me feel like I could cry ?
Truly beautiful Illneas. I especially like the shot that begin with the focus on the ant and end with focusing on the boat in the background. The narration and music are beautiful too. Thank you for this
(We are no longer in quarantine here in France but... Yeah. If I had to choose a poem to express how this period felt... Keeping quiet would be it. I think.)
Thank you for stopping by once again, we are not on quarantine here either but it still feels the same.
One of my favourite 😍
Thank you illneas.
This is pure art.

Somehow it makes me imagine myself in a quiet post apocalyptic world -- lying down in empty building, listening to a radio where a woman reciting a poetry that has long gone.
