Whole thing makes me wonder whether the author has ever had to deal with what it's like in California, or Texas (Taxes, to type it properly), or Florida (the uninsurable), or anyplace other than Oregon. There are legit reasons to reconsider Oregon (check out taxes on pensions and social security), but much of what is said here is just as applicable to northern California, or Washington state, or other locations.

I would love to live on the Oregon coast. It is so beautiful and peaceful there. But if the big one hits, and you’re there, you are toast.
