Marcus Zydek Look up the Military Lending Act, it’s true. Jake Broe is another YTuber who does videos specifically for active duty folks. I’m AD and got the Amex Plat, probably going for one of these hotel cards next.
You missed the Bonvoy Business super power, it doesn't count against 5/24. That is why I went with it. Got in on the introductory offer 95.00 annual fee waved 1st year and 100k sign up bonus.
If you don't get the Aspire, the Ascend is a keeper, because you can get far more than the fee back in free breakfasts (often quite good ones too) at Hiltons. Also, if you don't want to carry a lot of cards or keep track of which card to use for what, it's the only uncapped 3% equivalent card for gas, grocery, and dining (all US only), plus 1.5% for everything else.
Hitlon Aspire is insane value is someone is a Hilton loyalist. -$300 EAF in year 1 and -$50 EAF in year 2 with a free night and top status. Such crazy value.
I have the basic Hilton honors, got it just for the 100k bonus. But if the 150k bonus to upgrade is still available after this year, then I will upgrade for the points.
I’m also over 5/24. I can’t get the Amex Bonvoy due to the fact that I have the Chase Marriott and Amex Luxury / Bonvoy Brilliant Card (one way rule). My eyes are on the Hilton Aspire Card and will apply for that soon. Already have the IHG Club and Premier, Hyatt too.
Genki Dama I am over 5/24 as well, I actually think if I had Chase slots I would get the Hyatt card, IHG card, a United card, The CSR and a Freedom. Since there is a Marriot one lane rule where you can only get Marriot cards from either Amex or Chase, it makes more sense to get all the marriot and hilton cards from Amex. and use Chase only on cards that have no other alternatives.
It’s was possible to product change to the Ritz as long as you have had the Chase Marriott for at least a year. I’ll find out in about 6 months after my 1 year anniversary.
I currently have the Hilton Aspire and the Bonvoy Business with plans to apply for the Bonvoy Brilliant mid April. After watching this video, I’ll probably cancel the Bonvoy Business after the annual fee posts. I stay at Hiltons and Marriotts enough each year to get great value from the Hilton Aspire and the Bonvoy Brilliant.

wow great video im in the credit mid game already i love this information so if i applied for the hilton card i will definitely use your referral links.
I’ve always been curious. If you have any mid or high end hotel status e.g. Hilton Aspire card for diamond status, does the people working at the front desk of the hotel know if you have this status level because you have a certain credit card (compared to status based on spend/paid nights)?? Was wondering if some people don’t get upgrades even with status because hotel knows that you have it because of a CC and not because you necessarily stay at the hotel brand often. Does anyone know? Thanks.
I have the Hilton Aspire card. Works for me because I travel a lot for work and stay at Hiltons so I enjoy having Diamond status. Also I don’t pay an annual fee so it’s almost a no brainer
I have Chase WOH. I have been using it for most of my every day spend, but it occurred to me that if I have the CFU, CFF, and CSP (which, I do) then doesn’t it make more sense to use the CFU for my everyday spend and then transfer my UR points earned from the everyday CFU spend, to my CSP, and then transferring those points to Hyatt? That way, I would earn 1.5 cents per dollar spend that I can use towards Hyatt rather than using my Hyatt credit card for the spend and only earning 1 cent per dollar spent?
This video sells me on the AMEX Hilton Aspire card. I do however think on the Aspire credits, the Hilton "resort" credit makes it a little harder to use and therefore offset the annual fee. However, I am looking forward to paying $450 for Hilton Diamond status!! 8:44 - LOL But I do think that explains Marriott's thinking regarding making status harder to get and devaluing the status levels. Just FYI for most people, at a lot of the lower to mid-tier properties Marriott offers free breakfast (Fairfield, Residence Inn, Towne Place Suites, etc). 7:18 - Citi Prestige can replace the CSR for US Restaurants comparison (8.5% ROS), both it and the AMEX Gold take the mark for dining! 7:24 - Hilton Ascend getting 6x on Gas (4.8% ROS) is an interesting value proposition. Next closest point reward card is the AMEX EDP (with the 50% boost) at 2x (3% ROS).
I wonder when Amex will be mailing out the Marriott Bonvoy cards for those of us that had the SPG card?? I did get an ofger in the mail for the Amex Hilton Ascend card, but it doesnt come with a free night so that makes me kind of not want to get it even though the sign up bonus is 150,000 points
Falco64 AMEX mailed me the same offer a couple of days ago. Then they sent me an email telling me that I’m losing my Gold status as of April. I thought I had the status through the end of the year. Oh, well. I’m waiting to apply for the Hyatt card.
Not traveling now but I just like this Sebby guy talk about cards. Question for all, what is the point of having CSR when Aspire gives you all CSR gives and more?
I think it's because the UR points value for CSR is completely different from the Aspire, but if you don't see value in UR points (besides the sign up bonus) then you're right, there is no point.
Question. I’ve heard that the Amex gold and the Amex Platinum don’t count toward the 5/24 because there technically charge cards not credit cards. Does anyone know if that’s true? Also, I’m an authorized user on a few cards for example the chase sapphire Reserve. Does being an authorized user effect my 5/24 status??
Nate Tulchinsky asksebby told me as part of a consult that even though I’m at 4/24 and my spouse recently added me on her CSP, that I still have one remaining slot with Chase.
Psa: Apparently if you’re over 5/24 because of an authorized user card. You can apply and when you get denied you call the reconsideration line and tell them about the authorized user cards and they will give it to you.
If you already have the Hilton Ascend card, can you still get the sign up bonus for the Hilton Aspire card? I thought that AmEx limited customers to one sign up bonus per partner hotel chain.
Yes, you can. Amex has a once in a lifetime rule for each product, not family of cards. www.asksebby.com/blog/rules-to-know-for-american-express-credit-card-applications
I just got an offer last night for the Ascend Card. Offer is for 150,000points for 3k within 3 months. Currently have the amex gold and amex plat. Would this be a good replacement for the amex gold since the point category are very similar and better in some area.?

I’m only 2 out of 3 with chase so I still have 3 slots to fill but I’m interested in getting the Hilton aspire or the Bonvoy card. Why would it matter if I get the Bonvoy card now with Amex and get the chase cards later?
Chase has a 5/24 Rule. No more than 5 cards from any bank in 24 months. Fill up the slots with all the "worth getting" chase cards, then focus on all the other Banks.
Carter because chase only allows you to open five new credit card account in 24 months regardless of who they’re from; chase, Amex, bofa, Citi, etc. If you’ve opened more than 5 cc in 24 months they will automatically deny you for a new cc with them. Amex does not have that rule. You can get an Amex even if you’ve opened 5 credit cards in the past 24 months.
You can add amex business cards if you are working on your Chase 5/24 cards which will not affect your 5/24 status. I have added 2 amex business cards and may add the Hilton business as well, been back and fourth, but this all depends on how long it takes me to hit my min spend on the 2 cards I just recently got.

I don't understand how everyone is so excited about the 250$ Resort fee credit on the Hilton Aspire :( Is everyone really visiting an eligible hilton resort each year? They're so rare.. Or am I missing something?
Cyril There are some really nice hilton resorts, I am currently on my first ever redemption, 7 nights at the Waldorf Astoria Grand Wailea in Mauii... 4 nights on points + 5th night free + 2 weekend nights from the Aspire and the Ascend, and I am totally sold on the value of the Hilton cards benefits... Really nice property, amazing service, with Diamond I don't even need to ask for an upgrade, they automatically upgraded us to an ocean view room for the 7 nights, if you enjoy resorts, the credits are really easy to use, eating or drinks or theres lots to do on property... Hilton is basically currently my favorite hotel ecosystem now... Nice thing also is that whenever you book with points or certificates, the resort fees are automatically waived...
Ehh. I feel like this was a bit biased. How could you call the aspire an 's' over Marriott? You're limited to only weekends. That's put such a limit on you.
Most people that go on vacation travel on weekends due to work. I think every single vacation I have taken in my entire lifetime, has consisted of staying at hotels over a weekend day.

But then you’re saying apply for 2 or 5 more cards Amex cards a few hours later as well? Effectively taking my other chase card spots. Why take the chase card spots with Amex cards?
Don't know the Hilton aspire card was that good. I'm thinking about it now.
As soon as a lot of people get it they'll take away 90% of their benefits just like the Uber card. That's all this credit card game is.
Thank you
@@karelcamacho5428 idk about you. But I usually go on vacation a minimum of a week. Almost always spending significantly more time at a property during week days then weekends. Weekends are absolutely part of the trip. But usually on 2 of my 7 day trip
If I could not spend gift card, how can I sold it?
Just got the Marriott business card with the waived first year and discounted second year annual fee thanks to Sebby. :)
Bonvoy business raking in points and nights while these other cards hanging out in the sock drawer
sebby flexin wit dat 3 hunnit
Fun video idea: What would you do with 2 million Amex points?
High quality video again! Referring back to your “maximizing Hilton card bonuses” video, do upgrades not have the lifetime language?
quick question : i dont have a ssn but have a US issued credit card with a fairly decent limit for the past 8 months . i am not a US resident also. i thought credit scores do apply in my case . i think i should have a credit score by now . any ideas why i dont have a FICO score yet? love ur channel by the way .
I got the old $95 SPG card (now Amex Bonvoy, no new apps). And I got 75k Marriott points. That was 7 months ago. Do I qualify for the 100k on the new card if I apply? Or I can’t because I got a bonus. But the terms says only bonus from the luxury card and chase cards voids this offer, nothing about old SPG card. Ideas?
Jiajian Hou you still qualify for the 100k on the brilliant. I got the spg in Nov then the brilliant in February and I received both bonuses.
james12490 what would you do with the $95 card? Cancel it? They totally over lap. Or just keep it for one free night?
Jiajian Hou keep it for the free night.
james12490 alright. But I just got the delta platinum card last Friday! Could I still apply for this? 2 cards in 5 days?
Jiajian Hou for example, today I’m going to San Diego to visit some friends. There’s a beachside property that’s 35k points but the cash value is $283 before taxes and fees so $95 is definitely worth it.
Sebby: Have we seen the last of the Arched "feel free to share this video with them..." fingers? Tragic loss. LOL!
Bandana😛
could I still get the spg personal card if I applied before the deadline (got declined so could I still call re-con?)
Recon up to 60 days.
I wonder if anyone counts how many times ask sebby says "make sense" lol. that's all i hear - anyway, I appreciate the content because I've made the most out of my sign up bonuses since graduating grad school (never traveled until now)
Keep all :)
This entire video is based on Mariot.

Stop flexing with all that cash seb! Haha. I have the Bonvoy brilliant and the Bonvoy cards. The brilliant is definitely worth it for me because of all my “staycations”. I used the $300 credit with in the first month for two different hotel stays and I used my signup bonus from the Bonvoy to book a room at the Ritz in half moon bay. If you were only going to get one I would def go for the brilliant if you travel to see family or friends or just take a couple trips a year.
Harybackmary Yup.
@@james12490 hi, my app for Brilliant was instantly cancelled due to many cards. Rep at the app status dept did some research told me various reasons (1. too many cards which they verified I don't, 2. Two in-progress status of available credit reallocation which in fact were completed and they said they should affect the Brilliant app) and at the end, they said the Brilliant is duplicate of the Bonvoy which I was approved in 2/3). When did your Bonvoy and Brilliant got approved? Or, was the Bonvoy an upgrade from old SPG card?
bluesky upgrade from the old spg. I got the spg on 11/18 then applied for the brilliant on 02/19
bluesky but the Bonvoy and Bonvoy brilliant are two different cards.
@@james12490thanks for your info. Yes, I agree they are different products which the reps also said but, the approval system is just cancelling the app. Or, may be... the system is thinking the two in-progress reallocation as new applications or 5th Amex card that I closed one day before the Brilliant app is considered as active. But, the reps verified all these and came back saying the Brilliant is duplicate of the Bonvoy. Thanks!
S Ranking? Definitely has to be a League of Legends reference....
Yes!
