This is an underrated Christmas album, my family and I listen to it every year. This is my favorite song on the album, it's so good! Best version I've ever heard of this song.
I am from Wayland, Mass. Grew up near Sears Rd. This song was written by Sears, who was the first minister at the Unitarian Church I attended. Love Hall & Oates version of this!
I've been a H & O fan for 40+yrs. and just hearing a song from this CD for the first time. I've been looking for a new Xmas CD for a few yrs. and If this song is any indication of the entirety , 'Home for Christmas' will be a nice new addition
Home For Christmas is one of my favorite Christmas Albums. I can't believe Christmas is over January has always been a hard month for me. A hard month for lots of other people as well. I think this will be the last time i play this gem, almost time to put this and all the other Christmas Music away. In 11 months i can break it out again. Wishing all the best for 2018.
This version by Hall & Oates is my favorite. The only drawback is it doesn’t have the last 2 verses. When read as a whole, it’s a beautiful poetic message. Here are the full lyrics. Worth reading: 1. It came upon the midnight clear, That glorious song of old, From angels bending near the earth To touch their harps of gold; "Peace on the earth, good will to men from heaven’s all-gracious King" - The world in solemn stillness lay To hear the angels sing. 2. Still through the cloven skies they come with peaceful wings unfurled, And still their heavenly music floats O'er all the weary world; Above its sad and lowly plains They bend on hovering wing, And ever o'er its Babel-sounds The blessed angels sing. 3. But with the woes of sin and strife, the world has suffered long; beneath the angel-strain have rolled two thousand years of wrong; And man, at war with man, hears not the love song which they bring; - O hush the noise, ye men of strife, and hear the angels sing! 4. And ye, beneath life's crushing load, whose forms are bending low, who toil along the climbing way with painful steps and slow, Look now! for glad and golden hours come swiftly on the wing; - Oh, rest beside the weary road and hear the angels sing! 5. O Prince of Peace on whom we cast our every cross and care, Come enter Thou our longing hearts, and make Thy dwelling there; And may we amid our daily toil, to Thee our praises bring, until on high we learn the song that now the angels sing.
Hall & Oates' version of this beloved Christmas hymn was the 778th #1 song on Billboard's Adult Contemporary charts. It was also the last #1 AC song of 2006 and the first of 2007. We say goodbye to 2006 and welcome in 2007. What will the AC scene be like in the new year? Stay tuned.

The 2 dislikes were by people who obviously worships the devil🤷🏿♂️.. There's just no other reason for not liking this beautiful rendition of a song.
