Thanks for showing the glimpse of Butte. My family is from Butte. My father, in his youth, and my uncles were 3rd generation miners in the mines, working both shaft mines and the Berkeley Pit strip mine you showed . My great grandfather who was a Polish immigrant arrived at Ellis Island with four dollars in 1904, made his way to Butte and the legacy began. For me, I have many childhood memories from Butte and trips into the mountains to fish the amazing streams and rivers. Oh those wonderful trout. Read Norman Maclean's book "A River Runs Though It." Captures a young Montana. Cheers.
If you go back to Butte, take a tour of the underground city. You need to make reservations for the tour, does not cost a lot and is very interesting. Because real estate was so valuable in the city, barber shops, clothing shops and bars were built underground. There are many Irish descendants in Butte from the mining days, St. Patrick's day in Butte is a week long party and drinking festival, if you are into that scene.
I absolutely loved when Cassie described how good her burger was and said, "I ate all of it" with a little giggle and smile afterwards. Reminded me of my sister, Althea.
What an ignorant comment. There's nothing nasty about human's improving their lives. I hate to break it to you but EVERYTHING that makes your life better and easier came from mining.
You really figured out how to get the good things out of life. You're surrounded by natural beauty all the time, in Idaho and Montana. As you note, even that toxic mining lake has an aesthetic quality that makes it worth seeing and thinking about. From mountains, to vista, lakes rivers and water falls, valleys and deserts, and even your lovely wife Cassie and happy dog, you get to look at and experience beautiful things wherever you turn your head.
As one of your followers, I offer my enthusiastic "well done" and thanks for this kind of video..a new place to visit with you and a chance to hang out with you and your lovely wife. Thanks for being you..
What a wonderful video! Thanks for taking us along. I've heard so much about the Bitteroot Valley, but haven't been there. And it's nice to see the towns, too. And that campsite, wow! Thanks!
Montana is one of my all time favorite states to explore. It's been about fifteen years since my last visit. Your video was a reminder of just how breathtaking Montana is and the fascinating history that is preserved there. And...what a perfect spot to camp! Thanks for sharing.
My favourite part you ask??...the whole thing! You and your wife make great guides 😀. Good to see some places not touched by people. Thanks for the fabulous upload!🔥
Wonderful video! I loved seeing your wife and dog! Can’t spell his name! Butte was great old town! That waterfall at campsite was great! Enjoyed watching B play! That huge burger looked unreal! Can’t believe Cassie ate all of hers!🤒
Fun video.. favorite part.. seeing the entire packed full day including Cassie with her big burger and your sweet doggie hiking and frolicking near the waterfall.. great narration too😊☀️💛
Exploring towns could be another channel. Loved the architecture, history and people of towns I cycled through, lucky I kept a journal because the memories keep flowing.
Really loved this video. I think it's your best one yet. How cool when the drone was flying with the birds over the valley. The waterfalls were gorgeous. Loved the old buildings in Butte. Just a fantastic video!!!
👍🏽 ... the "head frames" are called "poppet head" in Australia (and other places) "the framework above a mining shaft that supports the winding mechanism" 😉
Butte is truly a cool place to explore, lots of mining history. I always stop and checkout a different area when I'm headed west. I'm so glad they left the head frames, the Berkley Pit is beautifully horrific. Our Lady of the Rockies on the ridge was a total volunteer effort. Montana is a hidden treasure, we hope it stays that way. Congrats on another excellent video!
It's old enough..it's very beautiful there..I love how all the buildings looks really pretty..wow I love the walk way you went through..the pit is very nice looking out from there I'd have to say my favorite part THE WATERFALLS
Yeah! Loving the new shirt! 😀👍 The waterfall camp spot is probably one of the coolest I’ve seen for you as well! And that statue too!? Had never heard of it!?! Built up on the ridge like that is crazy. And props to Cassie for finishing that burger!
If I ever make it to Montana, I'm hiking that overlook trail, looked amazing in the video, the actual sight of it all would no doubt blow me away. You guys probably felt like you needed a 12 mile hike after eating those burgers, lol🤠
Hi Tristan, my wife Pat & I just finished a 3 week roadtrip from NH to Montana and after watching your video on this canyon... we made a point to come here... thanks for sharing it with us...
historical preservation at work. Butte has those former mining tunnels extending under a large portion of the city. Construction is not allowed in some areas due to potential subsidence. I hope you guys try fishing together sometime, the waterfall stream looked really 'fishy'. Y'all have fun & Safe Journeys
Hey Tristan and Cassie....awesome video of Butte's real old buildings, nice waterfalls and outstanding views of that valley!!!Cassie's burger meal was enormous and kuttoes for getting it down...Summer for Cassie so she is joining you now...you are such a cute couple....enjoying your videos!!!
The view of the mountain range was spectacular I bet it would be even better early in the morning as the sunrise. Definitely will have to visit this area. Safe journey and travels.
I really enjoy your videos. You take me places I wouldn't get to see. Ive just started camping in my van after covid and am mainly focused on California, where I live. Keep those videos coming , they are greatly appreciated.
Oh my the best part your wife Cassie eating that burger,😋, it's so great she is traveling with you on LIFE'S ADVENTURES. In the evening before bed I try and fall asleep watching your videos as they provide me such great memories of our adventures years ago. And at times Dreamscapes me their. Your adventures are LIFE REWARDING FOR MANY.
Favorite part of it ? You with your family this time- enjoying a summer adventure ! I was curious how travels and finding places to eat was working out. ( yummy 🍔)
Loved the first waterfall and the birds soaring with the drone footage. I would have slept like a baby camped next to the last waterfall. I love the sound of rushing water.
I grew up in Anaconda. I lived there for five years. I graduated high school from there. I lived in Southwestern MT for 10 years. So, I tell people that I am part Montanan and part Washingtonian. I am sad that you didn't look at the Washoe Theater and the park which is right next to it. I am sad that you didn't show the huge black tailing mounds either. Thanks for letting me get a closer look at the Berkeley Pit. The areas around Butte and Anaconda are superfund sites.
It's great you can share this with your wife. And the dog looks like a good hiker. Watch for bears though with that little one! That waterfall site is good for RVing but tent campers wouldn't use it.
My favorite part was the victorian building. It reminded me of SF as well. Brought back happy memories from my teenage years. The waterfall came in a very close second place. Thanks for sharing.
Oh my! I'm jealous! You two know how to live life. All of the scenery is beautiful. I loved Bowser checking you out at 13:43. Looking forward to a Helena tour. I believe they had more millionaires than any other city, way back when. Stay Covid free. 🙂
Loved seeing Cassie's reaction to that breath taking view. And, boy, can she pack away that big burger. The toxic stripped mined lake was a sad thing to see. I've passed through Anaconda and do recall that large smoke stack. That little town didn't seem to have much else going for it. Fascinating history in that area.
Butte is like knots berry farm. My son Graduated from Montana Tech. Graduated as a Petroleum Engineer. Best school for the money. Miss driving him from Cali to Butte.
I find all of the mining stuff interesting. I know I would be amazed at the scenery, no doubt especially the snow capped mountains but I live in Arkansas. We have some amazing scenery. I love the history. I would have loved to see in the miner's 30 room house. That's a big house, even though they would be small rooms. I'm sure it's beautiful. I love old House's.
I noticed those large birds patrolling near the Drone in the high canyon overlook. Guessing that was a little nerve-wracking. I've been in that situation a number of times and gets my heart rate up every time! Beautiful scenery and well-captured my friend. I look forward the next one!
Love the view of the mountains and that waterfall with beautiful don't know if I can sleep that close too loud I got the giggle at how big that hamburger was it looks bigger than her
Now that was a nice combination of town & country! The old buildings in Butte did scream, "we're out west!" The mining relics & mine pit were interesting as well...but the topper was the view from the top in the mountains, plus the campsite...WOW! The vista reminded me of the Beartooth highway. Boy, those burgers looked good. Yes, Tristan you eat better when Cassie is along. A wonderful trip - Thanks.
Would love to tour Montana... Don't forget Whitefish Montana ...it is beautiful there ...my Niece and her family lived there.. Wow love the Virgin Mary on top of the hill..got to put on our bucket list.. We did visit the Saffire dig in Montana and dug and found blue Saffire made beautiful earrings, ring, and pendant from them. We love Montana want to go back. We visited that copper mine your at also. Wow! Lucky you parked at the waterfall campsite...beautiful... Loved the drone shots and the video ...thanks Stay safe out there..
I love small towns! Thank you for having me along. Favorites: - That view. Video title was *not* clickbait. :) I bet the camera didn't do it any justice at all. - The parking spot next to waterfall. Wow! - The virgin Mary statue (hope you guys go back in for the closer look when it opens) - The burgers, at Naps, looked incredible
Great video, Tristan! The lookout on the hike was spectacular and what a camp spot for the night! Lovely video of the Montana towns and nature. I agree with Cassie that the toxic lake was “weird.” 🙂 Looking forward to the rest of your Montana trip.
That stack pales in comparison to the super stack here in Sudbury, On, also a mining town, which measures 1250 ft in height, with a base of 115 ft in diameter and 52 ft at its top. It just recently (2020) got decommissioned and is scheduled to be torn down. It's the tallest chimney in Canada and the Western hemisphere, and the second tallest freestanding chimney in the world after the GRES-2 Power Station in Kazakhstan. It is also the second tallest freestanding structure of any type in Canada, behind the CN Tower but ahead of First Canadian Place. It is the 40th tallest freestanding structure in the world.
It is impossible to pick a favorite in this episode, Tristan. I enjoyed the architecture of the mansion, the toxic beauty of the mining pit, the visit to the smoke stack interpretive center and the manner you give context and meaning to all of it. The roadside waterfall and river were breathtaking, a jewel in your excursion. The canyon, another jewel, seemed to have a spiritual quality to it; rugged yet serene and peaceful. It does seem to be one of those places that one has to see for themself to really appreciate. Thank you for sharing it. The camping spot was absolutely amazing! You guys really lucked out there! Was it difficult to fall asleep that night?
Great trip to Montana my home for 30 years in the Stevensville area, have been to all the places you and your wife visited. Napps is the best hamburger place anywhere!!! Keep up the great adventures, I love watching them all.
I just love the west. Those old westwrn towns and those hikes. Fun video .😁 Cant wait til my turn....tks for those coordinates, i will use them. Hope that waterfall spot is available when i go. Happy safe travels !
Take Cassie with you to Yellowstone, Yosemite, Zion & Grand Canyon to list a few. I found all 4 to be worthy of repeat visits. Breathtaking is a good description.
That was a great video. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! And myself would like to visit the statue of the Blessed Mother of Jesus. That was surprising to me also. I am catholic and never heard about that statue.

From seeing cool historic stuff, to NASTY human impact, to amazing natural beauty. All in one trip. Amazing.
Thanks Christian!

That glacial canyon overlook was beautiful, I’m sure it was breathtaking to be there in person!

sw Montana is rarely shown in hiking videos. Absolutely new angle uncharted territory to my eyeballs.

Loved all those places. The waterfall campsite is my fave!
Butte, America! Nice tour and observations. It's fun watching you grow as a videographer as well as narrator. Very nice Tristan.

Omg, I can't believe Cassie ate that whole thing. Lol. That was a beautiful view you guys shared. Thanks for taking us along. 🙂
This channel is where Instagram and RUclips meet. Sincere congrats on 50k. You earned the heck outta that.
Thanks Cousin Jeb!
👍🏽 ... the "head frames" are called "poppet head" in Australia (and other places) "the framework above a mining shaft that supports the winding mechanism" 😉
Mountains are so beautiful. That valley was so nice.
The view of that canyon was amazing. Def worth the hike. I've been thru those areas. Really nice, in the summertime.
Gorgeous scenery and nicely narrated, as always. Nice to see Cassie included again. Thank you!

Very cool when the three birds soared through the screen. As if it were on cue.

You have so many great videos... This one is very special. I hope that I can see this canyon soon before I am much older.
Thanks to this video I took a friend out to Blodgett canyon and it was an amazing experience. Appreciate your recordings!!

Wow!!! I love your videos! Skalkaho Falls is beautiful and that view of the Bitterroot River winding through the valley is breathtaking. Thank you!
Thanks to this video I decided to head out to Blodgett Canyon, it was spectacular to see in person! Thank you for your uploads!!
It's great you can share this with your wife. And the dog looks like a good hiker. Watch for bears though with that little one! That waterfall site is good for RVing but tent campers wouldn't use it.
I believe the molten ore scoop is called a "crucible". I love Montana. Looking forward to visiting that state again.
Montana has a way of stealing your heart. ♥️
Loving all the natural beauty
Great tour, Tristan and cassie! Thanks for sharing.😉🇨🇦
My favorite part was the victorian building. It reminded me of SF as well. Brought back happy memories from my teenage years. The waterfall came in a very close second place. Thanks for sharing.
Butte reminds me of a large Cripple Creek, Colorado in the 60s.
Awesome footage with the drone. I always cringe and maybe shouldn’t think about what would happen if you ever lose it! 😩😃🤭❤️👍🏽🙌🏽
Oh my! I'm jealous! You two know how to live life. All of the scenery is beautiful. I loved Bowser checking you out at 13:43.

We loved Helena. Cassie actually wants to move there. It's a really beautiful town!

Really enjoyed watching, I agree with your wife that area has incredible scenery! Would love to travel there someday, if that is ever possible now!!
I've a good friend living just outside Hamilton; I can see why!
Thank you!
Love the view of the mountains and that waterfall with beautiful don't know if I can sleep that close too loud I got the giggle at how big that hamburger was it looks bigger than her
There is a downtown restaurant in Butte that is in an old bank, where you can be seated and eat in the bank vault..
Love Butte. It’s a photographer’s paradise. History in the present Tense.
It's a great place, for sure!
Way to go on that burger Cassie. Beautiful places

I've been to all of those several times. Cassie has been to Yellowstone and Grand Teton. Thanks for watching.
That was a great video. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! And myself would like to visit the statue of the Blessed Mother of Jesus. That was surprising to me also. I am catholic and never heard about that statue.
I love Montana! Have you ever made it up to Glacier NP? Gorgeous place - in my top 3 places ever.
I'm definitely going to have to do this trip! Looks awesome!
