Love coach Tanner the baseball genius and the man. Believe he lacked the pedigree and knowledge to be an elite athletic director. Timing of this announcement tells me that SC is under extreme scrutiny from NCAA or a lawsuit. I hope I'm not smelling a huge negative scandal.

Why give the impression of controversy where there is no evidence for it? This is low information crap. I'm not connected in any way to the University, other than I just follow people who ARE connected. It's been known for a while that Tanner would be looking to step down in his 65th year. The prevailing thought is that it would be at the end of the academic year. He sped that up by a semester. That's all. No scandal, nothing burger.

Coach Tanner did the best he could. He didn’t have the resume to be AD. Being named AD would be less of a stretch than being Asst. to the President. Again, a role that he doesn't have the critical experience for, but he's likable and loyal. Where have we seen this before...🤔

As I've posted on other sites...Did Clemson make Dabo for winning a national championship? Did Alabama promote Nick Saban or even Bear Bryant to Athletic Director for winning a National Champion ship? Will we promote Dawn Staley to Athletic Director?...No! We were giddy after those baseball championships. Dabo and Dawn and Bear were or are in the right positions ...Coach. I would have paid Tanner whatever and let him COACH! Not all bad...but definitely hurt building a baseball dynasty.

I have been waiting my whole life for this. He did a lot of great things for other sports, but most of my lifelong gamecock family members were never happy with his work with the football team.
If there's scandal I don't think he'd stay on until his replacement...he is 66 after all. The timing is what i don't get.

The new AD HAS to be a home run hire. Proven track record of success. Is Beamer the guy? I said since the start 5 years with improvement each year. I wouldnt really consider last year a step back even though the win/loss record would show that. For all the stones thrown at Tanner he really has done a pretty good job improving our athletics as a whole.
