Bigger build surface? Why not IDEX to make it stand out? Is it faster?Seems more of an incremental update, maybe should b called the s5.5

It's unfortunate they didn't expand the print volume in the Z direction

kind of underwhelming if the only talking points are a flex plate, a new inductive probe and built in air handler but I must not be the intended audience with the price point these are going for.

Yeah clearly the intended audience is those who have 1. FAT wallets, 2. Zero clue. Bambulab anyone ?

It was intended for clueless corporate purchasing department who don't know Bambu, Raise3D or even Creality with some mods exist.

Flexible build plate so it’s pei I assume and bed levelling.
    Is that it?
Bit disappointed to tell you the truth.
There are other printers that do this and are enclosed and have filters much cheaper.
    Would expect something new.
Sure it’s a nice printer but just too expensive considering there are other cheaper options .

      They also have a camera!
      Totally worth $10k.

I doubt it levels the bed with the inductive sensor. It just scans the bed and compensate a bed that is not that smooth…

It's amazing what a 3D printing company can come up with when the goal of the company is quality user experience, not just trying to make a cheep 3D printer to outsell other cheep printers.

      @@MatterHackers ...Bambu lab?

    • @mjrudisill

Bambu Labs. Ultimaker is becoming like Stratasys, living off a name and providing little to no gain at a massive markup.
This update is sad and lazy. Still not properly sealed (gaps around the door), a massive machine with no gain in build volume, switched to a PEI plate which is almost standard, and as far as I know, everyone else offers it as an option anyway, and the price tag is HUGE.
Bambu labs' X1C has a built-in lidar that will scan and auto adjust flow settings, auto check first layer adhesion, has vibration compensation and will print 4-10x faster than an Ultimaker, has a comparable build volume, has spaghetti detection, a great app, etc. And is 1/5 of the price WITH a material station.
We got an S5 and have had a ton of issues and we baby the machine. I was thinking with the increased price and the name it would at least be more reliable.

lol this is so obsolete, how is it new, are they blind to the market?. also in the demo the 1st layer is not perfect down that not a good sign

Ultimaker is the worst printer in its price range. The results are subterraneously bad. The speed is more than just slow and structurally it is also poor. The fact that the print head wobbles makes ghosting a big problem.
Our company regrets buying an ultimaker and we can only advise anyone against supporting this company. it's a rip-off.
