Welcome to the first episode of The Squeeze! Actor Taylor Lautner introduces and interviews his wife, registered nurse Tay Lautner, as the two discuss her mental health journey, career as a nurse in the thick of the pandemic, and why she wanted to start this podcast. They also discuss the genesis of the Lemons by Tay blog and The Lemons Foundation, her nonprofit organization with the same mission as this podcast: to build a community that supports and encourages those struggling with their mental health, and provide a place to share resources along the way. The two then introduce a recurring segment of the show: The Lemon 11: eleven great questions that will facilitate inspiring, intentional conversation. When life gives you lemons, what do you do with them? Over here at The Squeeze-we talk about it. Thanks for squeezin’ us in!

Same, from unplanned. I just want to point out, Mr. Taylor, that a man who changes diapers is extra sexy. Like John Legend and Adam Levine. There's commercials about that. Like anything, practice makes perfect, and when you convey that support for your kids with everything, playing and diapers and bathing and crying, the bond is so much stronger. I'm not saying you have to do everything, but sharing the load is a life saver.

I work in a hospital setting as well, and so finally having a podcast where someone is open and honest with the feelings and emotions that come with that is so relieving. I’m looking forward to more content (and hopefully merch soon)! Your story from ICU had me in tears because I work all over the hospital including ICU so I see these situations happen often and it definitely changes something in you physically and mentally that just isn’t discussed about enough. I’m eager to have this new outlet. Thank you both for working together on this amazing new podcast!

I have ALWAYS had so much respect for nurses, especially since I am a patient so often in hospitals but especially starting in 2020, my respect skyrocketed!! I was hospitalized like 2-3 times in 2020 and I felt SOOOO bad for my nurse having to wear masks all day. I'd tell em "hey while you're in here, I dont mind you taking that off. I've been tested. I'm not scared, I just want you to have a moment of comfort!" Of course, no one DID that. lol I love that I found this podcast. :)

I graduated as an RN in December of 2020 and took my NCLEX in March of 2021. But was already working as a new grad LVN in a telemetry unit at my local hospital before transitioning to the RN role in the same unit after I passed my RN NCLEX exam in March 2021. So I went through all the same things Tay's talking about, including working the night shift. It was brutal to say the least and so painful seeing so many people die. I now work at an outpatient center and it has been a good change and has helped my mental health. Thank you Taylor for being there for your wife and being that support system she needed. My husband cheated on me with another woman while I was in nursing school and I ended up going through the struggle of nursing school and working as a new nurse by myself without anyones support. Thankfully I am a very strong person and I pushed through the pain and hurt and graduated with excellent grades. When life gives you lemons, what do you do with them? You make lemonade I guess LOL!

Tay, your whole idea is fire! 🙌🙌🙌 You two are changing people's lives! Thank you! I am 52 years old, bi-polar, and a single mom of a 29 year old who is on the Spectrum. I had to perform CPR on my mother, who was the first person I had to actually do compressions on, as she was dying from COVID... I know that trauma you felt doing compressions, training dummies definitely do NOT prepare you for the real thing! I saw "The Squeeze" as a clip from E! on their piece about Taylor talking to Instagram about the trolls he was up against and was praying it was a podcast on RUclips. I TRULY feel like it is an answer from God. I was only going to bring positive vibes to Mr. Lautner, but to my surprise, Mrs. Lautner, you are a blessing as well! 💞 I instantly subscribed and am sharing your content with everyone I know. Thank you for being so raw and keeping it real! There is going to be a lot of healing! God bless you both 🙏💞 🙌

I’m so happy I found your podcast. 🙏🏼 as a teacher for the past 6 years, I also didn’t have serious mental health issues until I started my career. The trauma students brought with them to school, the negativity, the pressure, the horrible ways that I felt on a daily basis led to anxiety showing up as chest pains. It’s been a journey for the past 5 years discovering what that means and how to manage my anxiety now. Thank you for all you’re sharing and this conversation. It helps me to not feel alone. Thank you

My high school best friend that met when I joined the cheer team my freshman year in 2009 also had bipolar disorder and I didn’t know she had bipolar disorder until the year after I graduated in 2013 she was so full of life and everyone loved her! Just listened to the Lindsey episode on my breaks on a cancer treatment ward. And let me just say. Tay and tay. As a famous teen star and for the rest of us a ”normal” living life person. The way you relate, connect, dare to share, and show openness and thoughts about LIFE that is not easily diagnosed by an x-ray or broken bone. It matters. It has meaning and is important that you as ppl with two different perspectives and day to day lives. Actually TALK about it. It gives understanding, education, perspective. That matters. Keep going. You deserve success and rewards for it. Because it matters.

Nice to see you are still together as many relationships are unable to endure that SORT of hardship. Then, "indents on the face" - epic. One of the downsides of staying safe before our bodies adjusted to the virus and other pathogens present in the field. What the podcast is accomplishing is deep and relatable... keep up the great work

Alright guys! Just subbed and I’m starting my first video. Then going through all the rest to catch up. Love you both so much! Taylor made up my childhood, the twilight movies were mainstream when I was a teen and before that when I was a few years younger I saw twilight and loved the movie. So I got to see it be a weird new teen film to this hugeeeee blow out saga. No one else in my opinion should’ve been Jacob, you killed the role. My earliest memory of a movie i rewatched a hundred times and rehearsed the words was shark boy and lava girl. I was excited when Tracers and Abduction came out. You just mean so much to me, I’m so glad you made this podcast so we can be part of your world still as grown adults.

I can relate so much to you girl Tay. I am a pusher downer on my emtions and I feel like that came from a place where my family was always on go-go mode too. Also, I have done things in my life that I never planned on doing. I gradeuted during lockdowned with a degree in Media Commincation, and now I am back after taking a year off of school to get my Bachlors degree in Digitial Communcations. Over COVID lockdown in Canada (I am from Cananad.) I was taking care of a family friend of mine who was in a home due to health reasons. I had to help take care of her because my mom was her primary and she was out of town helping my grandmother move in with us. I also do PSW work for my brother ( he as austim) and my grandma because she can't really do much anymore. She is now 91 and has momery loss. I also thinking a lot about ideas before I go to sleep too. I know that this podcast has been out for a while and I know boy Taylor story and little better cause you he is more well known in the public eye, but I just wanted to say to both of you guys thank you for being open and honest about your jounries because it makes people feel less alone and knowing that we can relate to you guys in your jounries is amazing.
