I always like that Sharpe salutes Teresa with his sword, giving her respect and recognition as a soldier and senior officer, but I've only just noticed that as he holds his sword at the salute he kisses the cross-guard, making the gesture also very personal.
She is both Sharpe's wife and at least a cobelligerent, if not an outright ally, with Britain against France. I suppose it makes sense for the full honour to include both identities.
I'm currently on book number 4 on Sharpe, excellent books and highly recommend. Sean Bean is played Sharpe perfectly and also Hakeswell. His character is played at a frightening level, best acting every.
The author actually changed the physical description of Sharpe after the first movies. He now says that when he visualizes the character, he sees Sean Bean in his mind.
Tongue died in the first book so doesn't appear in future stories. After Rifles Sharpe and the Light Company are separated by the long retreat to Coruña and the Chosen Men we see are part of a detachment to the South Essex. This is the reason we see an entire company of greens in Rifles but only a few in Eagle.
american here who only got into this series cause the algorithm wouldnt stop reccomending the "major lennox answered with his life" scene. since then i've watched a few of these and i remember seeing Hakeswill in a movie but at the time i was blasted on a POWERFUL weed edible. when and where does hakeswill die? did i see it and just not register it? i thought he just abandoned his unit after taking Sharpes wife hostage.
I read the first book ten years before the television series. I remember Sharpe was a quarter master which was the highest rank a common man could achieve. His commanding officer had been killed and he was the highest ranking soldier left alive so took command Jonathan Prigmore
Infantry were so vulnerable if they became open on the battlefield. Skilled cavalry could be as potent as machine gun fire. Fascinating times. Sorry I'm just a proud Englishman Jonathan Prigmore
After Sharpe re- enlists, and order is given "Right Face." That is an incorrect order for the British army. It should be Move to the right in threes, right turn." Right face is American
how can that guys character comment on things after he was written out the script in most of these its never shown he dies unlike that one extra for one episode and perkins he just dosent show up leaving the 4 we know harris dan sharpe and harper

Sounds filthy, but honest after he got her killed.

Oh, he sure did salute her with his sword!

Only show Sean Bean, never dies.
This was such a well put together way of recapping the story!
While Sharpe and Harper survived the war, Perkins, Harris and Hagman lost their life in battle. Wonder what happened to Tongue and Cooper?

"It _is_ poetry" - said with total disdain. The first crack in the facade and they weren't even married yet.
Un hombre con principios Sean Bean.
So how many of us soldiers were 'shipping hard for Sharpe and Lady Anne?
Aye. Lady Anne was the fittest and smartest of all Sharpe's women.
