    I’ve always like to ride my horses bareback with a halter. The kind ones take care of you , stopping or slowing down if you’re off balance. The cheeky ones wait til you’re off kilter to launch you.

    • @sheepishh
      @sheepishh 3 года назад +9

      Yeah! Whenever I'm off balance while bareback my mare takes our pace right down to a walk. She's saved me from eating dirt a number of times

      I once forgot to tighten the girth on a thoroughbred cross I was riding one day during a lesson, everything was fine until she dropped out of canter straight to a walk and myself and the saddle just slid up her neck 😄
      Thankfully the arena had large flat sides at just the right height so I stepped off onto them while the instructor fixed the saddle & girth.
      I'm thankful that the only time I've come off a horse was when I was riding a Palomino gelding & he stopped, dropped and tried to roll. Despite other horses trying their best to buck me off (including one whose feet were apparently straight out the back) none have as yet succeeded.

      My thoroughbred bolted with me bareback. He was in a snaffle. I could not stop him and fell off, he fell after me because he was trying not to step on me and he did a really good job at that since I fell almost directly under his right front leg

      Wow... Ok riders....Im impressed. You've both just taken a big, first step, towards resolving to make changes, to truly improve yourselves & the lives of your horses You've admitted to the importance & necessity, of researching & interviewing possible candidates, to replace the current "instructor" due to inadequacies, lack of effectiveness in many areas, & simply put... You aren't perfectly pleased. Your feelings are justified. This is NOT a productive successful program. Falls, mishaps, injuries, are creating dangerous rogue unhappy horses, & so on! This dismissive attitude, non professional atmosphere & lack of distinct teachings, & not using soft hands on training,,,, will enhance & perpetuate, the sour attitudes, the fighting & more & more falls. You deserve professional, skilled, accomplished, honest, horse loving trainers, coaches, grooms, staff, vets.... And safe happy trusting horses. Listen to your inner warnings. Falling is not ok, not normal, not acceptable. Bad trainers are prevalent. Steer clear. Start looking for new help. Best of everything!!!

      @@privatemailcall6011 falling is okay because how are you gonna get better? My instructor doesn’t care IF it’s a light fall. If it were to be something like a rotational fall, she would come running over, but i remember a time where I fell because my horse refused and she didn’t really care all that much, but that doesn’t mean she is a bad trainer?? She is amazing, and I’m sure these people’s trainers are great as well. You can’t just say they aren’t good trainers, because my instructor has taught me so much in the past few years. Just because they don’t come running and sob for the whole lesson and call an ambulance, doesn’t mean they aren’t bad trainers. You really need to be educated, and you really shouldn’t insult amazing trainers. 🤨

I was extremely blessed. I speak honestly & my soul is humble. I've no sense nor feeling of superiority. I truly wish the best for you girls, learning to ride & loving horses. But I want the CORRECT handlings of YOU all & THE HORSES. I'm concerned for many obvious reasons. And, to address your comments very last remark.... Please know... that of course.... I'm a CHA instructor and worked internationally. At a lot of lower end places on both sides of the Atlantic there seems to be an ethos where its considered normal to fall off almost once per lesson. It definitely stems from developing complacency, not spending a ton of time on basics, group lessons for beginners, no longing exercises, and progressing too quickly for the riders skill level.
      Which is all how you develop poor horsemanship at best, death at worst.

If you knew the horse you would understand why she one rained stopped, he bolts out of nowhere and its hard to slow him down. He has since then became so spooky and dandurous that he is no longer being ridden by anyone. My friend that was on the video says that her one rein stop was trash, and it has since improved.

    title idea: Its a jump, not a monster.

    • @privatemailcall6011
      @privatemailcall6011 2 года назад

      According to the horse... Yes, monsters. One on its back. Monsters are created by humans straight into the horses mind. If not corrected, softly, then here you are, a horse attempting to avoid pain & unpleasantness. Continued... You create a rogue. Thats not only unfortunate, but dangerous. Survival is instinctive inside of the horse. Fight or flight. Both occur. So refusals, have a distinctly caused human error. Errors & mistakes & misgandlings, in the horses life, not just this particular ride. It wont be "fixed" by continuing to ride the horse as is. An effective trainer with knowledge, riding ability, successfully proven accomplishments, understanding of the entirety of the horse, especially inside the horses mind. Begin again, inside the horses mind. Yes, to the horse, there are many monsters. The horse sees many monsters to escape from. We can help the horse to understand & gain trust. Thats training. Solid foundation.

    I just had a pretty good fall. I was going to try to canter a mare that was green to cantering with a rider on her back. (we lunged her at the walk, trot, and canter in both directions and she did perfect) So I mounted her. We trotted around and when I asked her to canter she started leaping and put her head down. (I couldn't grab onto anything because it was an English saddle) but then before I could get her head back up she bucked and then stopped at almost the same time and I flipped off of her! I got the breath knocked out of me, got a few bruises, and was sore but for the most part I was ok

    • @grammyd8361
      @grammyd8361 2 года назад

      You need more training. Everyone knows you never canter or run a green horse. Forget that english saddle and get a western saddle, until your ready to make good decisions on a horse and get out of those indoor arenas! Walk your horse out before you ever go over a trot!

    • @Flightwithoutwings
      @Flightwithoutwings 2 года назад

      @@grammyd8361 keep the English saddle you will learn to balance and get a proper seat and ride properly. Western saddles make lazy riders that slouch and rely on the saddle and horn to keep them on. A neck strap will be extra security if you really need it.

    Jumping is something horses avoid in the wild, because it puts them in serious risk of being hurt.
    Straining a muscle can be deadly, so jumping is much more for us, than the horses.
    Do horses jump on their own, and sometimes for fun, yes, but how many horses do you know, that will jump a course on their own, if they are loose in the arena?
