Kudos for citing the Last Seduction (& the criminally vanished Linda Fiorentino). Also, for including Fallen, one of my favorite horror-thrillers of all time.
ARLINGTON ROAD is probably the most underrated Movie ever ... saw it in the Cinema and that Ending has blown me away ... literally. I was still in Shock after the Endcredits
I'll add one more: Terminator 3 -- the protaganists, John Connor, Kate Brewster, and the T-800 spend the whole film trying to stop Skynet [NOT Skylab] machines from attaining consciousness. They fail, then race to a location that promises to be a place where the machines can be stopped. It only turns out to be a fallout shelter where John and Kate survive the machine-borne nuclear holocaust. There was actually no way to stop the machines from taking over after all.
@@HariSeldon913 empire doesn’t count, it was part of a trilogy completely planned. But you look at the gaps the player came out in 92, spellbinder in 88, Usual Suspects came out in 95 and Species 2 came out in 98…. We need more of these types of movies made
@@srstriker6420 Every single James Bond movie - if they'd figure out to just shoot him instead of putting him in some elaborate deathtrap and walking away leaving him unattended.
I think that Primal Fear is an amazing movie and the ending twist is fantastic because it’s just so well acted by Edward Norton that you don’t see it coming and it still works on a rewatch even after you know the twist because once you know you start looking for clues to the twist throughout your next watch and at least for me I still don’t see it coming.
If it wasn't already mentioned in the previous video: Insidious. One of my favorite horror films. The ending really surprised me, which seems rare (for me) in horror films.
At the ending of Gone Girl his decision isn't so much 'for the good of the child' but to protect his own rehabilitated reputation. The whole time, his motivation is to protect his reputation, even going as far as to enlist public relations experts. Both characters aren't nice people, even though Amy's a straight up sociopath.
The Last Seduction is one of my favourite 90's movies. A black comedy where the villain manipulates everyone around her to get what she wants. It's the way it shows people's prejudices (racism/sexism/homophobia) are weaknesses for Bridget to exploit that makes this an extremely underrated classic.
My fave evil-takes-it-all film is Ride with the Devil by Peter Fonda. Back when it premiered I was so shocked I decided never to watch it again. After like five decades I've seen clips of it here in YT.
Natural born killers would have been a much better movie had Oliver Stone not messed with Quentin’s screenplay. Mickey didn’t S A the girl in the hotel because he only had eyes for Mallory making their connection devotion more relatable and resonating. It would have played out more like True Romance
9 of 10 of these are terrific! Fincher is Fincher. "The Last Seduction" is one of the best neo-noirs ever made. Speak No Evil is just a film about stupid people
I agree. I despise that ending. Not just for the nihilism - even if you liked that kinda thing, which I don't - it was a trick that made everything a waste of time, but that violated what little "rules" it set for a limit on the demon's powers, that it had to go into a person. Now suddenly it could go into a cat. If it could go into a cat, it could go into any living thing and so there was never a limitation and so there's never a point to the story.
Blame the Hays Code for why audiences were brainwashed to think evil always loses. In reality, evil tends to win. The closest the Hays Code would allow was Mr. Potter who's scheme may have been thwarted but he still stays rich and powerful.
first i thought that is Marissa Tomei, when he called the name i knew it was the Dr from Men in Black, i had to search her name i watched the movie, because..
Fallen was largely a load of crap. It was done, better, a few years earlier in a film called "The First Power" - not a great film, but definitely more original and interesting.
Natural Born Killers was not based off Bonnie and Clyde. It was based off Charles Starkweather and Caril Fugate from Nebraska.

Yup. A very good film, but it seems like that movie has been deliberately buried. One wonders why.
Seems Andy Dufresne had some unfinished business with the legal authorities.
I'll add one more:

Yeah, I still think it’s required because in order to get to terminator salvation, we needed to have the ending of terminator 3
Turns out you can stop Judgement Day by killing John Connor early
Who knew?
Skynet, not Skylab.
@@camgold2154 thanks! Corrected.
We need more of these movies, where the villain wins
The Player
Spellbinder
Usual Suspects
The Empire Strikes Back
Species II
Monty Python's Life of Brian
Buddy Buddy

Villains coming out on top is very refreshing. But because it's so risky the execution has to be flawless.

I totally agree!
Twilight: Bella was alive at the end, we all lost.
The Last Seduction was a really good movie. Glad it was brought up on here cause Linda Forrentino was fantastic!
“Arlington Road” is really under-appreciated. Good to see it get some exposure here.
If it wasn't already mentioned in the previous video: Insidious.

Wow, what a coincidence! I was just looking up where to stream "The Last Seduction".
Mothers instinct with Anne Hathaway 😅 real good 8/10 🎉
Don't recall if it was on the first list but I put my vote in for the original version of The Vanishing.
Good list, although "The Usual Suspects" might also make the grade.

Some of these movies are childhood memories for me
You missed out 'The Wicker Man' 1973 again.

Neil Maskell is great. Glad to see Kill List here. I loved Neil in Utopia.

Arlington Road is masterful and slept on beyond belief.
Hereditary And Midsommar And The Wicker Man Should Be On The List
I Despise Evil Endings.
Why? Its interesting and risky
In Natural Born Killers, watch the director’s cut. They didn’t win. They got killed.
My fave evil-takes-it-all film is Ride with the Devil by Peter Fonda. Back when it premiered I was so shocked I decided never to watch it again. After like five decades I've seen clips of it here in YT.

Nightcrawler was about a determined entrepreneur who went after what he wanted and didn’t let b.s. get in his way.

Disagree with your take on Rosemary's baby!
It was full on Mother's Intuition that made her stay, not any 'grand plan'.
I watched Fallen a year or something ago and that ending made the movie feel like a waste of time to me.
All that for nothing

If you think Natural Born Killers is hardcore, you need to see "Man Bites Dog".

interesting
Too bad that the Nightcrawler movie didn't take place in the world of Matt Cordell aka Maniac Cop.
Oh damn, I didn't realize the speak no evil I've been seeing trailers for is a remake... Now the ending (unless they change it) is spoiled for me.

So there are only really 6 on this list. I’ve disqualified the others.

The orator style is irritating in the video. Speak normally lad.

On 20yo movies?
I wish Collateral with Tom Cruise had Vincent winning in the end and Jamie Foxx being framed for it. Would have made it a greater movie
