@I M well I got mostly all A’s but I hardly did any extracurriculars. My gpa was a 3.87 unweighted and 4.27 weighted? I got a 1240 on my SAT but Covid helped me out with not submitting those. It pretty much all came down to my writing skills and really good letters of recommendation from my teachers.
your comment is 3 years old, but congratulations!! I'm a rising senior considering applying ED to uhicago, and your stats are really similar to mine and gave me some hope in getting accepted haha. i hope you've been enjoying Chicago (or wherever you are now) :DDD
I love this video. Besides UChicago, I have been to several campuses, like Harvard, Yale, Brown, NYU etc. Somehow I just feel the students at UChicago are different from other schools. From the way they talk, attitude, even facial expressions they are different from the kids at H,Y etc. I couldn’t ping point exactly where the difference is. After watching this video, I seemed get it now.
Researching more and more about uchicago really makes it my dream school. I love how academically rigorous it is and how they encourage free thought. Ughh I think I might want to transfer or apply for grad school.
Thank you soooo much for the videos!! And uh would you mind talking about like classes you really enjoyed and/or classes that are really unique? Or maybe things that make classes at UC different?
ooo I'd have to do a bit of research but for sure!! I was thinking of doing a how I chose my classes video first because I think the deadline for pre-registration is coming up~~ 🥰
As a current medical student who graduated from UChicago, I can attest to the resources. Having an office (UCIHP) dedicated towards students interested in medicine has been beyond helpful when it came to preparing for interviews as well as developing my application in a timely manner. I also have to mention that the work that we did as a student has also gone a long way when it comes to being used to the long study days of med school lol
you look so good! also in every 'uchicago' sitting-and-talking video or vlog of yours i just feel how much u like studying here and it really inspires me (even tho i don't rlly like my uni)
Now retired, I used to hire people, and Ms.Tan is correct -- if the applicant is from UChicago I can be sure he or she can cut it and meet a challenge.
You mentioned socially uncompetitive at one point and I was wondering if the rumors about the "abysmal dating scene" were true (direct words from a reddit forum I read once LOL)
HAHAHA WELL I can't say too much because I've met amazing peeps but that might depend on your circle / friends! Though I must say (and I know this is superficial but) #uchicagopretty is not really a thing anymore --- people here aren't like INSANELY beautiful (some are) but both girls/guys were all much more attractive than I was expecting hehehe
What do you think about going to UChicago for a stem major like biology? I feel like your insight is really great for econ majors but do you think your experience is applicable or similar to stem majors at UChicago?
it has very strong alumni and quite a lot of them in recent years mainly! So there really isn't that massive emphasis of like multiple generation of finance alumni, but a good like 30% of uchicago grads go into finance / consulting i think --- for example morgan stanley new york has around 30 uchicago grads in the ED level and under (this is just my estimate it could be more)
In attending the student sessions UChicago has rlly promoted the Scav Hunt but I haven't seen you/others talk about it at all - is it really all that they make it out to be or is it just a tactic to strengthen the ~quirky~ brand image?
it's more like 30% of the school does it and is SUPER SUPER into it, and the rest of the school watches them and roots for them hahaha -- it's super fun and i want to do it at some point but it's also quite time consuming (same as the humans vs zombie hunt)
Hi! thank you for your videos! I had a question about the application: they let you submit a video essay, but I wasn't sure how that had to be. Should we narrate a personal essay in the video? Or show videos of us in an EC? A video montage of our high school? I was really confused haha
oooo that one's tough because I didn't do it! They implemented the policy the year after I applied -- try searching them up? But I think the rule of thumb is to create something that summarises you as a person! (If I did it I would film it/edit it it like Elle Wood's video in Legally blonde HAHAHA) --- try looking up some college app video profiles on YT i remember watching a few that were really funny & well done!
This video was suuuuper helpful. I’m an accepted student trying to make a decision and wanting to go pre-med. Can I ask why you decided to not go pre-med?
As a rising senior in highschool, these videos were soooo helpful! I wish every college had videos like this lol
for sure!! me too :-; it would have made my college research process easier heeh
I JUST GOT ACCEPTED ON A FULL RIDE SCHOLARSHIP!!!!! Totally freaking out right now!!!

AT 7:4 - BTW -Tuition fees of Columbia and U Chicago are similar and the admission rate of Columbia is lower than U Chicago.
Alright watching your videos I am really close to EDing to UChicago !!!
This video was great! Thanks for all the info :)
daaam binge watching her vids!! bouta subscribe
Now retired, I used to hire people, and Ms.Tan is correct -- if the applicant is from UChicago I can be sure he or she can cut it and meet a challenge.
UChicago, arguably the most intellectual school in the US, both in the faculty and student body.
Hhoooray waiting for more of your videossssss
Singaporeans in U Chicago represent! RUclips algo is scary and freaky good at recommending videos.

great video! might share with incoming intl grad students (even though not everything is relevant)
I love your avatar! (I actually have a very similar one :) )

Loved the video! I thought UChicago had solid placement in finance, so could you expand a bit more on your comments about that?

@@asynchloe thank you!!!! i would LOVE to see a video on it if you do end up participating 💖
so if I have a low GPA at UChicago it is still a high standard overall? Thanks Itschloetan :)

How extreme is the amount of work? How much do you get to sleep?
What is the weather like at Uchicago?
What apps do you use for editing videos?
