@@slXD100 Well it's definitely not going to be as strong this year, and probably not for a couple years. Not sure what his goals are now, but his bench is gonna take a hit in any lifting competition he does in 2023 and 2024
@@AdrTo It depends. What I have heard athletes saying, that their doctors said, is that if done successfully the reattachment will be usually stronger than old attachment.

@@AdrTo The opposite is true, it'll be harder to tear it after the surgery (mainly because of the new tendons). I think Hafþór will adapt his training though, and progress will slow down, which is the best he could do to stay strong and healthy

Just remember once you can use it again, tendons have bad bloodflow (they dont have veins) so you need to move it alot to get blood into the tendon to heal. Doesn't need to have alot of weight, just movement!

Yeah that guy is a complete scam artist lol. Statements by he and his team make zero sense with even a super basic knowledge of physiology. Fortunately most of the stuff they are doing like cryotherapy and red light therapy has some tentative evidence behind it (not for the reasons they are saying, but still). Glad Thor has the actual surgeon and isn't relying on the first dude
@@chindimusicchannel What I would do is get the surgery and then go to Mark Rippetoe for my recovery, and I'm not kidding. 45 years experience lifting a teaching beats this new age nonsens all week long. 😊
Yeah, I don't think anything there was necessarily harmful, but its utility in terms of recovery is negligible at best. What is needed in this case is a definitive (surgical) repair followed by intensive physical therapy. Unfortunately I see a lot of pseudoscience in the fitness industry. People take advantage of athletes' desire to perform to the best of their abilities.
I got the same off-putting alternative medicine vibe from him, and had to rewind to make sure I didn't mis-hear him when he said the human body was intelligently designed. Big red flag. But the cryo and hyperbaric stuff is all just fine, and if his surgeon was the one who recommended him then I'm more willing to entertain his sketchy "my wife made this shake for you" type stuff.
@Brinelious the surgeon recommending him is honestly the most concerning part. Then again I'm not from the US and it seems like pseudoscience and conspiracy stuff is pretty common there. As a practicing med student I can confirm that coach cal and his staff are full of shit and their practices are completely useless from a physiological perspective. However, if it makes Thor feel better and more comfortable with the healing process then that in itself is beneficial. I just hope the doctor recommended that for the latter and not the prior.

That wasn't from arm wrestling by any chance was it? I broke mine doing that in 2012, recovered naturally in 6 weeks, no surgery, lifting weights again from 8 weeks. All the best buddy! 💪

Hi, I broke my humerus from arm wrestling in 2016. Spiral fracture which also caused nerve damage. Did you have surgery? I had a big metal plate put all the way down my arm.

Dr. Mora is fantastic. I’m getting a similar pec repair surgery from him in December although my injury is very old, about 9 years old. I’m just an everyday Joe, public school teacher, but he was incredibly kind and thorough during both my visits.
Seeing Hafthor around normal sized humans is really amazing. Just his sheer size and mass in comparison... geez.
Hyperbaric chambers are legit with soreness and stiffness. The high oxygen makes me feel giddy

Hafthor, have you ever looked into BPC157 and TB500? Apparently these peptides are phenominal for recovery for tendons/ligaments in the fitness community. Doesn't hurt to ask the Doctor or Coach for their opinion. Hope the recovery is fast and your back to lifting!
