30 books in a month? Something new to feel upset about because I wish I could do that :(

Aim for one and you're already doing better than most people. Something like 65% of high school grads never read a book again. Reading should be a pleasure, not a competition 😊

Comparing yourself to others is a great way to become depressed and a bad waste of your time and energy.
      You do you.
No one is keeping score here.

I read Who Goes There? for the first time a few months back and was similarly blown away by how great it was and how much like the movie it was. I did wonder though if some of that enjoyment was carried over from the enjoyment of the film in my subconscious.

If ive learned anything by watching your channel is that i definitely gravitate towards trash. Highbrow, classic, metaphoric, insightful stuff just doesnt make sense to me. I dont want to spend hours, day, weeks deciphering analogies of a political or social nature. I want to be entertained. I dont want any extensions of the real world in a past time that should be relaxing and fun. So now i watch your channel exclusively for books that fit the "fun" "trashy" genres. Do the Goosebump books take place in modern times (cell phones etc)?

When you talk about Flicker, I have flashbacks to a brilliant and disturbing British film called Berberian Sound Studio. I had to watch it in 15 minute intervals because it felt so claustrophobic to me. But it was fantastic.

I read “I who have never known men” based on your review. Thanks! It made me think about what gives meaning to our lives and makes life worth living.

I guessed your favorite book correctly! My favs from May were the first two books in the Bree Taggert series by Melinda Leigh. I also really enjoyed Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop by Hwang Bo-Reum.

May I take this opportunity to ask you a question please?
I've started writing 2 books, done couple chapters on each, ones a military book, and ones a horror book regarding vampire's, but adult grown up real horror so to speak.
Anyway My question is , how and would you recommend regarding getting self published or Amazon, any tips from avid reader, like you Olly Ijust love all things books.
    Kind Regards

I’ve been after Flicker for years!! Glad to hear it’s great. And like you I’m back into comics in a big way, reading loads of Frank Miller I’ve never read. Haven’t not collected Alan Moore for years it’s good to branch out…got his complete run of Daredevil lined up next and then the first Strontium Dog omnibus.

@@lukethomas216 Haven’t read any since I was a kid, loved the character then. Probably because I was and still am a massive Spaghetti Western fan and it gave me those vibes in a SF setting.

It is still the best space-western ever! And it has some noble company in that genre.

Blessings from Chicago hon. I do have a problem: separating the artist from the art. My god, read the talented mr Ripley and loved it. Well, I looked up ms highsmith on google. Boy oh boy, honestly wished I hadn't. Gave the book away, a lovely copy too, to our thrift bookstore cause I can't read someone's stuff that was that awful privately. And I do mean awful. How do you do it? I think you even made a video about this kind of thing awhile back.❤❤❤

Yes she was a pretty awful person. I can’t remember if I’ve ever done a video on it but to me it comes down to does my enjoyment of the book balance out my distaste at the writer’s views. Another big factor is whether the book espouses those views and whether the author is an active campaigner for views I disagree with.

There’s a third movie version of The Thing from a few years ago. Stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who does a great job playing the hero.
Looking forward to reading Flicker. Thanks for highlighting it in May.
