      But neither performance or song really 'came across ' the screen for me ....most TOTP performances were very flat in the '70s & '80s ( no backdrop , terrible sound & lighting, an audience that didn't know what to do ,the overdubbed applause ,the groups not knowing who they were 'performing for' ,which camera if any to look towards .....)

    Stone Roses and Happy Mondays both finally making it onto TOTP on the same night.
    This really was my generation's Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show moment.
    Bought my first bass guitar soon afterwards! There were kids going out to find themselves instruments throughout the land ❤✊️

    on this day children, the 80s was officially over.... the 1990s had just begun and they were one of the 2 bands on that night that heralded this new decade. the other band was the happy mondays. also from manchester.
