Shouka, Orkid, Nakai and the Red Buoy (Shamu Skywalks at SeaWorld San Diego 12/14/12)

All five whales were gated into this back pool and given ice treats and a big red buoy. Ikaika and Kasatka weren't as interested but the way Shouka, Orkid, and Nakai played with it was incredible! I thought this was a great example of secondary reinforcement: for gating into the back pool, the whales were rewarded with ice and a toy, which are things they don't need to survive but still find rewarding.
EDIT: If anyone wants to know what happened after the videos cuts (I stopped filming to take pics), they kept playing with it until Shouka knocked it out of the pool twice.
