- The Geneva International Motor Show 2020 just got cancelled. In the spirit of the Ghost Squadron - The Show Must Go On. So, we decided to not tear down our stand immediately. Instead we fenced it, put up the cars and shot this video for all fo you to enjoy and for us to make the best out of the situation.

Seeing that now when cars close in on and might even exceed 500kph, the top speed race is so far and beyond any reasonable and useable speed that it starts to get meaningless.

@@srinitaaigaura Looks are certaily a matter of opinion. To me Veyron is ugly but Chiron looks nice, while I still prefer the sleeker Egg design over more bulky Bugatti looks.
But did you just pull that "bomb proof reliable" out of nowhere? That is simply not true, Chiron has had problems with seat weldings and airbags, for example.

Another example the 9 dollar VW Golf camshaft position sensors that are used in the Bugatti's cost over 7000 dollar to install. And I can assure you, they fail on VW's all the time, so they will fail on a VW Veyron or VW Chiron as well.
Don't know about Koenigsegg maintenance/repair costs but on most models the parts in the engine compartment seems pretty accessible.

I love that christian has done what other hasn’t because it given him and his collogues the opportunity to advertise his work and bring us into their work . It feels nice . All other manufactures don’t really take the time to do this kind of work christian/koenigsegg puts in for the audience.
He had a dream and truly went for what he wanted. And he experiments with old parts that no one has looked upon, redesigned or changed throughout history and literally reinvents it as a new and way superior part. And the fact that he's planning on sharing their technology and deliver it to other companies is pretty damn cool. And tbh i'm kinda hoping Volvo gets it first.

And it helps that Christian and his team seems to be able to bend the laws of physics to their will ;)
That gemera is easily the coolest car I seen in years.
No joke, it's actually more interesting than the Jesko and Regera. A hell of a lot of engineering went into the space optimisation and hybridisation, to say nothing of the passenger compartment. And we finally get to see Freevalve implemented. I wonder if he implemented that compressed air tank he teased on Drive as a way to spool up the turbos while at low revs.
Gemera looks to be the complete package. GTC4 Lusso is cool and always seemed kinda practical, but this car is better in every way.

I know a small village museum were they keep one of the oldest 4-stroke petrol engines in the world, a stationary one cylinder designed by Otto himself. I've seen it many times and it allways strikes me how modern engines in their basic layout are hardly different from that 140-year old piece of engineering history: crankshaft, flywheel, piston, cam, valves, fuel intake, spark ignition, exhaust. There have been a million step by step improvements but the core concept is still firmly rooted in the 19th century, for me it is like a steam engine with sophisticated computerized coal burn and steam management.
Freevalving to me seems like the first real update of the old concept which opens totally new possibilities instead of only optimizing the already existing, and we'll probably see very rapid progress with that from here on.
Now what imho also really needs to move forward is ignition, that Ur-engine I started with has a spark plug that looks exactly like a modern one and guess what, it was made by Bosch, just like in the engine you buy today, all the improvements over time haven't changed the basic functioning.
So Christian, please try to make something happen in that field, since the old big car companies don't seem to be interested for whatever reason. I am thinking about laser, super fast independent control for each cylinder, AI, the works. Imagine if that was integrated with the freevalves what that could mean for perfomance and economy. Christian, we need engineering geniuses like you to shake up the engine world!

Nice theory, except Bugatti does hold the record. Not the Guiness record, the absolut record.
Guiness is not some magical official record keeping organisation. It's just a beer brewer's book of bird records turned self-proclaimed record keeping organisation. A Guiness record is great for bragging rights, but it's no more official than any other reliable organisation's certification.
Anyway, with or without a Guiness representative present, Bugatti did hit 300mph first. Independantly verified and certified by TÜV, in the same location and using the same method as several previous record holders including the Veyron and the McLaren F1. Nobody can ever take that away from them.
Don't get me wrong, i love the Eggs and can't wait to see them take the record back once more. But i respect Bugatti just as much for everything they have undeniably achieved.

I question how light it will actually be if it’s packing 1100 electric horsepower and 1000km combined range (going to need a lot of batteries to sustain that), but if they can deliver on even half of that range figure, I’ll still be be hugely impressed. The only other vehicle anywhere close to the Gamera is the Polestar 1, and that’s a 2-seater with “only” 600HP and about 300 miles.

WTf. 4 doors, luggage room, 2 liter 3 cylinder 600hp/tq total 1700hp. 0-60 under 2 seconds. Full fuel/charge 1000km range.. Koenigsegg just gets SO MUCH more of every single specification than every single other manufacturer. Truly amazing the engineering and work they do, mind boggling really.

It's quite fascinating how mind blowing each Koenigsegg car is that you can now see this absolute piece of automotive art and engineering and not be a bit surprised they managed to create it. While everyone puts in bigger engines and make cars look a bit different these guys invent not new transmissions and engines, but completely new mechanics for them, and they do it for each car they build. People like you and Elon are the ones we are all proud to be living in the same era with.
You're an evil genius in the absolute best way possible, how you and your team do this is just mind blowing, absolutely mind blowing. You're a monster. I love this company I love what you do, and I'm so glad your show went on. Incredible.

The Roadster that was unveiled had specs of the "Base" model. You don't wanna know what the Performance model can do.

@@skysos4174 $1.7M for the Gemera. But, also note that the Roadster will have a 200kWh battery. That's a huge battery pack only seen in electric semi day cabs, and big transit buses.
