Probably because they didn’t record many studio albums. 3 albums in the 80s, none in the 90s, 1 in the 2000s & one last year (2022) I agree that they deserve to be at least as big as Stryper, IF they made 1 or 2 more great albums in the early 90s. They do have a cult following, though. I live a couple cities away from where Leatherwolf started in Orange Country; some people still know who they are.
I was at the first european concert of Leatherwolf in The Netherlands in 1989. Called Aardschokdag with bands as House of Lords, Vengeance, Crimson Glory, Leatherwolf and Queensryche. Never forgotten the impressive line of 3 guitarists on stage. Still listen to these bands and loving it.
This is an amazing festival, 80s cult heavy metal bands like Leatherwolf, Fifth Angel, Riot, Lizzy Borden, Cirith Ungol, Armored Saint, Possesed, Metal Church are playing here.

they should rally consider to re-record their best material with today's technologies and sounds....guess it could really relaunch their carreer ,cause the songs are timeless metal and just need s a sonic adaptation,i guess
Personally love the sound of 'street ready' on vinyl...dated but also a real 'rosetta stone' of metal as a testament to one of the hottest acts of the the time. Timing is everything in music, like Vicious Rumours, they had the talent but a bad label decision plus changing music tastes at the time and then the moment was gone.

This lineup is brutal, go back to the 2015 Keep it True tour if you want the real deal of a group. That's Leatherwolf at it's best. This here 2 non energetic kids on guitars, whoever the bass player is, just the drummer and singer are originals. I can't watch this.....

Michael's vocals are as good as they used to be back in 80's, but the backing vocalists aren't able to keep up with him.
