Ooooh, you star. I'm one of them who fights with epoxy leaks. I don't do river tables but I do fill voids.
I'm in the UK but plenty of links to buy it here.
    Ordered.
    Thank you! 🙌🏼 👍🏼

Always love your videos and the fact you use Aussie timber use the sap lines as feature not trying to hide it. I do the same.
Like you, I don't like using epoxy, as you said there are always holes. I actually use auto body filler with a touch of black oxide. I have it an outdoor table (under the pergola for the last few years) and on a round dinning table and to date seems to hold up well.

Thanks Patrick, another great video. I'll certainly be putting that on my shopping list. What was the oil you used on the finish?

I tried using some PVA glue to seal it up prior to using that that epoxy filler and it largely avoided the bleed through issue
    That stuff is expensive though
Have seen people tint builders bog and do it that way as well

Oh boy, I wish you'd uploaded this a couple of weeks ago. Bloody liquid epoxy in Aussie timbers is sooo time consuming. Exactly as youve said, doesn't matter how well you think you've taped them up, theres always a leak somewhere...this Techniglue looks good for gluing and filling.

I have used the epox-e glue extensively in a few of their different tinted types as well as their off white variety. I have never had problems with colour bleed out into the grain in the black or natural colour variants. Even if I did worry about the possibility of bleed out they have a white variety so you could just measure out a bit of white to mix with the black or natural variants to thin the pigment out. It really is a great product and I will do whatever it takes to not use powder pigments if I can because no matter what I do it always goes everywhere lol.

I would like to know, apart from aesthetic reasons, are there any structural reasons for not applying filler of any kind, and to just leave the surface cracks and resin pockets in their natural state, then apply, e.g., a hardwax oil over the top as your finish?

Those sap lines / gum veins can be brittle, even crumbly. Epoxy will stabilise this part of the board, rather than having to waste it.

Never mind showing us products we shouldn't use. Otherwise, I liked your presentation.
