  • I finished this custom-built solenoid engine just in time for Christmas. Good thing, as I built it as a gift for my son, who always seemed to enjoy running my first custom-built engine. The engine is made from a hit and miss engine casting kit, a pinball machine flipper solenoid, two 12 volt batteries, and assorted custom-made parts. This time, I put it on a custom-made cart, built by a friend, as my wood-working skills are not at that level of craftsmanship!

Wow, best running and looking solenoid motor I've seen. Call me, if you ever have a garage sale.

it does not get hot at all. It is a 50v coil running on 24v and is only energized for 90 degrees out of a 360 degree rotation. The cast iron cylinder wall is 3/8" thick and never gets warm to the touch.
