  • Popping over the sea to Skye has always been a romantic affair, and the current ferry boat - the Glenachulish - is the last manually operated turntable in Scotland.

Worth driving all the way up there just to meet the lovely ferry lady. Gorgeous accent. Much nicer than my posh English.

We don't like posh English accents in Scotland. Something to do with The Clearances?

We are visiting Scotland for the first time in July this year. We are staying for 19 days. We want to visit Skye and to us this is the only way to go. Yes there is a road and bridge but we are looking forward to the experience of using the ferry.

Get your facts right; "Over the Sea to Skye" refers to crossing from South Uist to Skye, not from the mainland!
