Grande el proyecto seguido desde sus primeros prototipos. Lo tengo y lo disfruto de manera casual. Contentísimo de que siga vivo. Espero en poder realizar mi primer videojuego para 8bits gracias a él.

Gotta give the MSXVR team credit for being on youtube for 10 years! The hardware is a tad outdated with the pi 5 out but thats not important as you can only go so fast with older systems like the MSX. The MSXVR engine is nice especially the GUI. . Keep up the nice work, don't let those who contribute nothing and put you down, they won't appreciate but other will.

Thanks for commenting. As a clarifying note, the project was first presented as MSXBASIC 5.0 Simulator in 2012, from there it evolved into what we know as MSXVR and finally hit the streets in 2020. We have had a lot of bytes moving along the way :)

so, a raspberry pi with custom shell and software? I feel that it would be more fun to make the thing than buy it.

I have the impression (maybe I'm wrong) that you are summarizing everything that the project means in very few words. There is a lot of dedication behind it and its objective is to entertain users in different ways, not just playing games. If you limit yourself to only seeing the forest you will never be able to see the tree. Happy new year!

No new games have appeared in my MSXVR Pocket store front, why is that?

You have an email. Please, support questions is better for email because we need to exchange pictures or another media files. Thank you.

So... nearly every image and the narrator are machine-generated (and poorly at that. The artwork looks terrible and has glaring flaws and the narrator says several words incorrectly that should have been obvious to catch and correct), the music is generic slop I've heard countless times, and the product itself is pretending to sell a Raspberry Pi in a custom shell as something special. In addition, all of these features that you are proclaiming with the "custom software" are literally all just advantages of the Raspberry Pi. You bring nothing to the table but some custom support hardware with it's accompanying software, and a custom shell. If you marketed this much more transparently (and if you actually put human effort into making this video), then I wouldn't be having these concerns and may even praise it and want one, but I'm sorry you totally lost me here.
Just for reference (for anyone who comes across this or in case they change the prices into the future) They are charging:
    MSXVR Virtualizer: 365,00€ - 395,00€ + IVA
    MSXVR Pocket: 165,00€ - 225,00€ + IVA
    MSXVR Quantum: 145,00€ + IVA
Not exactly the most unfair prices I've seen but this whole video has completely turned me off the products.

We are sorry to read your words, really. We have spent many years dedicating many hours to this project and we are always looking out for the community and improving as much as possible. In this case, we have considered creating these videos to validate and continue to inform about the project, but above all to try to approach the non-Spanish-speaking community in a more correct way. This video hasn't been made in two minutes, although it may seem like it to you. It is true that it uses automatic processes because the idea is to take advantage of this process to improve other types of videos that we upload to the channel, such as tutorials. We are truly sorry that in your case it has caused a completely negative impression. In any case, we appreciate your feedback.

@@MSXVR Hmmm... I have known of this project for a couple years actually. To offer a counterpoint tot he negative reviews I'll give a more balanced opinion... It is fairly interesting. Even the hybrid conditions you have set up here is a pretty big undertaking. After all, it is not just a matter of having all the pieces parts, but actually assembling it all together into a cohesive whole.
I do feel you have a a few hurdles to getting the knowledge more widespread worldwide though.
      1. MSX while popular in its day, with pretty extensive user bases in places like South America, Japan/Asia, and somewhat less in Europe, never had much acknowledgement in North America despite Microsoft making the OS. Even among the retro communities in the U.S. I bet there are a number of people whom have never heard of MSX.
      2. Many in the retro communities whom would be interested in a simpler grass roots type system such as MSX and whom have heard of it likely would prefer a hardware type of emulation via FPGA, such as the MSX SX-E rather than software based, as that allows for use of original media and extensions and peripherals. While many refuse to see it, there are drawbacks here as well, since despite the appeal many do not acknowledge that the hardware is now 40 years old and less remains after each year as more fails or degrades.
Do not let any of the above discourage you, this type of project I bet would still appeal to some, particularly as a nice introductory OS, or even a historical os, and to a younger generation looking for a simpler platform, even as a intro to games and programming of the past.
As for myself, I've been fascinated by MSX for a number of reasons... its innate compatibility with CPM-80, and the hardware being far more capable than that. Plus alternative OS's that run on systems, like SymbOS..
A few things about the platform have amused me, like the fact no one seems able to confirm exactly how many systems ever were built and sold over its life.... the number quoted by those supposedly in the know never match eact other.

I really appreciate your comments. We have been developing the project for many years (more than 10). With the computer on the street, for 4 years. You can imagine the level of spirit we have is great :-) for us MSXVR is not just MSX, for us it is offering excitement to all those retro lovers. Not only by sharing knowledge, for example, in programming topics, but also in the creation of content such as video games or multimedia surprises or anything that makes users of any platform forget about their daily lives to have a good time in front of their computer. The spirit of retrocomputing cannot be lost, and those of MSXVR, we will be there.
