UBC pro-Palestinian protesters set up encampment on campus

- Demonstrators have set up an encampment at the University of British Columbia campus to show support for Gaza and Palestinians.
UBC officials say staff will monitor and assess the demonstration on the Vancouver campus and will liaise with the RCMP.
As Grace Ke reports, similar demonstrations have seen violent clashes, triggering the university to keep a close eye on the camp.

They had no problem with reporters who identified themselves as reporters. They also did not interview the Jewish students who were UBC pro-Palestinian protesters.

As in any war or confrontation, the winners of Israel-Palestine conflict will be the ones that will write the history. Today America, particularly the U.S. government, writes the world history. The massacre continued after the American Independence from the British. The exact number of natives who died in the hands of the American Government and some of the founding fathers is unknown, but estimated to be from hundreds of thousands to 10s of millions, if not, to 100 million. Countless Africans had also been killed and enslaved, and their lands exploited by the Imperialism and colonialism of the Western powers for centuries. After the slaughter or slavery of the helpless natives came the freedom and democracy for the owners of the new land. Ironic but not far at all from the truth.

This is an incredibly unfair report on the encampment, the when they say their reporters were asked to not film people, it was because nobody knew they were media. they had no crew, nothing immediately recognizable that they were the news. If they had identified themselves i’m sure a number of people would have helped you get statements for the media. Also, nobody in this movement celebrates oct. 7. You including this in the report is an obvious attempt to put words in the hundreds of thousands of Canadians who want to end the suffering in Gaza. Yes this type of speech deserves to be criticized but i mean only from the perspective of it being not helpful to the movement of the oppressed Palestinians. I think we can see that Hamas’s tactics do nothing to get the people of Palestine any closer to liberation from their oppressor-Like this person could have been a RCMP plant for the purposes of smearing the movement for all we know. Foreign conflicts should not be brought into Canada. If this becomes a trend, we would face endless conflicts from immigrant groups from so many different places around the globe. Old countries and cultures are mired in old feuds and conflicts.
