Diesel mechanic here, on those old mechanical diesels, the injectors are activated by fuel pressure from the injection pump, if there is air in the injector lines, the air can compress more than the fuel, which can mess up the timing and make them a pain to start, as if the distributor on a gas motor was way out of time. I'm about to pick up a gas one of these tomorrow, also for scrap metal price, hah, wish me luck
All old backhoes smoke, usually worn injectors cause smoking. The rings might be a little stuck and the pump timing needs to be adjusted after fitting the pump.
Diesel injection pumps need to be in time to deliver the fuel to each particular cylinder as it reaches TDC, the rotary pump has balanced weights that throw out as the pump reaches its target for delivery fuel to each particular cylinder’s. 🇬🇧🇮🇪.
Wow wow.....case was a very good company for machinery like that so cool.....hey you got it that thing going congratulations Brian......happy father's day.....stay cool and be well..🤘
Thanks for the sub. I need to get my buddy down in the spring t break mig case in half si can re build mine. I have never rebuild a case before anything to look out for?
Those old rotary style injection pumps are quite a pain sometimes. The shutoff mechanism usually sticks and a little smack with some pliers in the side of the pump will usually get an old tractor running.
Boys and their toys! As a kid I ran a 530 Case. I think I remember that to be a 188cid diesel. They hate cold weather but other than that it was a reliable unit. Rhey must not have the hydraulics to the hoe valve even hooked up.
Go to You Tube for some basic info on your backhoe. Idle you engine down. Let it warm up. Check you hydraulic fluid level...they work better when the filters are changed and the hydraulics pump can get oil to push and pull the rams.
I use to operate in 1952 John Deere backhoe, and on that tractor when you wanted to use the backhoe you had to switch the hydraulic power from the bucket to the backhoe by pulling a lever, maybe that’s why he had no pressure to the backhoe
That is so awsome Brian runs like a champ. I have a 69 ford 4000 with a front loader and I love it makes it so easy to lift engines and cars can't wait to see your in action keep up the good work
You're as happy as a kid in a candy store with that thing which I would be too especially after finding out that the past 3 or 4 owners never heard it run and u got it going with a little tinkering. Good job now its almost ready to go to work
Drop the outriggers and lift the big wheels. Crank the motor in gear. Let it spin up then slam the clutch and brakes together. That should free up something.
Ya with older machinery especially with hydraulics. Need to let warm up for a good ten minutes. Then circulate the hydraulics by moving them all to their maximum and minimum manuevering points. Even if you don't intend on using those parts or the legs. This makes sure to keep your hydraulics healthy and fully circulating, preventing build ups or plugging in the lines.
Loony the woistes thing ya'll could have done was remove the fuel pump. Timing is very very critical for injection to each injector. Now if you had pulled off each injector line right where it goes into the engine and primed it by hand not ruining the starter way better. If you get this started I would literally be shocked. Youse should have brought a can of ether.
You should crack the line loose at the injectors and full throttle to bleed. There is not a lot of fuel that gets injected but takes time to get psi. So I would have bled the system before taking pump out. Hope you get it going.
Glad to hear the old diesel come to life- don't know how far you are in to this but getting a manual will help a lot. Glad to hear you got it for next to scrap price. Weather it is a car or a back hoe as you well know when it does not run you can't find out if the other systems like drive or hydraulics function. Good luck!
2708 hrs you say? Still a teenager. I've seen some 6700. I believe that style has the weird lock for the bucket(rear). You lift it till it almost gets to the up position then slam the stick forward and it jumps the arm to the lock. It's an old tractor but has great potential. 👍👍 Wish I can find one near me.
Dude, I've got as many old tractors as you have old cars sitting in my yard...and I have another machine called a backhoe.....that's what you have, a friggin backhoe...when it was built that was a formidable machine...pick your head a little higher my friend...you have a backhoe...
Dude, you didn't set the motor at 8° below 10:49 TDC of number one. You may have a real bad time trying to get timing right ever again. Those old Case tractors are not forgiving when it comes to timing that injector pump.
That's awesome dude. If I had enough land to need one I'd do the same. I wanted a riding lawnmower when I had about a quarter acre to mow but house I bought had a small lot so don't need one anymore. Used to take me a couple of hours just to do the main side yard and the front now it takes me maybe a half hour. I barely have room to park the spare cars. Funny how you can eventually find stuff you can use cheap or free if you keep your eyes open. For me at least the property taxes are dirt cheap and I won't be killing myself trying to maintain everything as I get older. Have fun with the new toy. 👍
it's not a tractor its a backhoe there's removing the injection pump was a major mistake timing it isn't like timing as distributor. Ive more than 40 years working on diesel equipment. I don't fuck with injection pumps . you can destroy the entire motor with a runaway . you got lucky bite the bullet and and pay a expert to time it. and run the rack. 2000 hours is nothing there are 2080 hours in a work year.
You are a great man
@5:51, that gutter downspout situation is epic!!

Needs rings dude. Smokes like crazy.

Shot of starting fluid
Old 350 case bleed lines ,starter fluid
i got the same one really cheap as well
Have one of these old cases in the family now for over 2 decades. They are well built and tough, ahead of there time. Hope you are enjoying it!

Thanks man you as well if you have little ones running around. I agree Case is a great company
I get it! A few years back I bought a '49 Ford 8n. Much fun! Enjoy!
Nice backhoe it's a Case 530 CK
with a 188 diesel
Hi tony
Do some more 580ck videos, really enjoyed it
I have the same engine on my Dozer I'm rebuilding on my channel. Great work subbing!
Thanks for the sub. I need to get my buddy down in the spring t break mig case in half si can re build mine. I have never rebuild a case before anything to look out for?
Grab the books offline there's nothing to them you can handle it no problem
I have one of the binders but never rebuilt a tractor before it’s gonna be fun
If you jump on Facebook and look up case 310 Dozer there is a group of really awesome guys a lot of the knowledge will transfer over!
I think that could be a case CK which I think stands for construction king
Those old rotary style injection pumps are quite a pain sometimes. The shutoff mechanism usually sticks and a little smack with some pliers in the side of the pump will usually get an old tractor running.
that looks like so much fun :) happy fathers day
Thinks Jim Gee. I don’t know if you have little ones but if you do I hope you had a great father’s day
@@LunarOutlawsGarage i had an amazing fathers day thank you , hope yours was fantastic as well
glad she fired up Lunar! good luck with it!

Do you know anything about diesiel engines
Go to You Tube for some basic info on your backhoe. Idle you engine down. Let it warm up. Check you hydraulic fluid level...they work better when the filters are changed and the hydraulics pump can get oil to push and pull the rams.
Thinks man I appreciate it. The throttle linkage was been making it idle too high. That was one of the easiest fixes I have ever had to do lol.
@@LunarOutlawsGarage if you low on hydraulic fluid or out of fluid some of those old pumps can be destroyed.

I 100% got lucky. I know I spent hours reading that large manual I got lol
Ima mske time for this much support

Not doing so is what is usually responsible for about 75% of repairs. The other is just wear and tear
Happy father's day to you, Brian! I'm getting ready to become a grandfather for the second time either later on tonight or sometime tomorrow 😊
Thanks man happy Father’s Day to you man and congrats 🎉 an a growing family 😁🤘

That engine started right up. NEVER use ether if you don't know what you are doing.

Did you not try to bleed the air out of the pump could have saved yourself a whole lot of hassle
Damnn miss the live stream but catching up on the video
Love ur channel man
Love how u shout other channels out
If you want to learn diesel engines That's a great piece to learn on
I like the dozer/digger. I would flush the fuel tank and lines.
Diesel does not age like gasoline does. As long as it did not develop allege it should be fine.
Who is the channel of the day
Air up the fuel tank to push fuel through the system
Mouse Pee Pee VS Clutch
Ya the mouse won that round now lots of PB
The '68 Comeback Special.
should bleed lines like it ran out of fuel
Glow plugs?

what model is your new toy?
1968 case 580 CK
Sweeeeeeetttttt
Can the BMW haul the tractor?
Can tell your From the east. Deezel, Dee Zul. Here in Colorado it's a Dee Suhl, or Dee Saul
a 1968 Case huh does everything work in order or need parts and a Case they are Internatial are they by Internatial trucks
2700 hours is nothing for that engine.
wtf 1st thing u do is clean the filters....
He had already replaced the filter is trying to get it to run
