Hi...recently I got this battery grip...while using it, the shutter was not released in the time of battery A drain...it was not shifting to Battery B...why it's so...is there any settings to be changed...?
Thanks Jules for the update, would be nice to not have the cable but Nikon didn't put in the contacts for the shutter release in the first Z bodies...don't think they'll ever make that mistake again 😀
Hi Jules and first thx for this video. Well you say you are not crazy about this cable… I think you are very kind. WTF why did they do this ??? It s a really cheap (but in fact not so cheap as more than 100 bucks) design that I can t understand :(. The vertical switch doesn’t t seem so well, placed too. Nikon s one (as all the official grips) is too expensive for a battery box with a switch. It seems that the brands (canon, nikon and of course Sony) didn’t realize that there is no more motors and complex mechanism in the grips now (since the cameras are motorized) but this doesn’t t prevent them to sell these battery bowed at indecent prices. But really this one doesn’t convince me and I am sure there will be better ones soon at around 70-80 $ and without any cable.
Great video, but this thing is a total joke. That's why I don't like modern photographic gear, you are paying too much and getting low-quality plastic crap. I'd rather use 10-15 year old Nikon true professional high-quality metal construction cameras and grips. And you can get them really cheap, too.

is there another 3rd party grip available that doesn't need a wire like nikon?
Not for the Z5, 6 and 7. The Nikon grip for the Z6ii and 7ii does not need a wire.
Does the shutter release support auto-focus?
Thank you!
